What was your act of kindness or one that you witnessed?

A smile or a compliment go a long way. Smiles are contagious. :)- I was at a car rental place a few weeks ago, and one of their reps as she crossed the parking lot, came over & complimented me on my outfit. I couldn't remember the last time a stranger (who wasn't trying to sell me something) gave me a compliment! Just her nice comment brightened my day; kind of picked me up a bit. What are any acts of kindness you have done for someone else or seen done?

A random act of kindness - A kitten resting it's head on the head of a puppy.
It's funny that you mentioned this and that I happened to come across this page. I like to write and have spent a lot time on some of my websites (like: floridapoolbum@blogspot.com; My Lot, Twitter and Facebook). After doing some writing and reading, I realized that I, like a lot of other people haven't been as kind as I could be. It's funny that a simple concept like kindness can be overlooked and forgotten. Oh, I hold doors open for people and things like that. But what if every person took a second out of their day, everyday, to commit a random act of kindness. Liberty Mutual Insurance did a commercial about how people who witness a random act of kindness and then do a kind act to another person. This is the same idea that was portrayed in the movie, "Pay It Forward". Please take a second to devote a minute each day to do something kind to a total stranger. It costs nothing but is so beneficial. Please check out my Facebook page and follow me on Twitter (itscooltobekind). If we could work together doing something so simple imagine how much it could change the world if every Paid It Forward. Let's work together to make the world a more pleasant place. It only takes a small step...

Well, thank you for your comment! i know what commercial you're talking about. I thought that was such an awesome one too. There are so many people out there that are hurting, and some small act of kindness could lift them up a little! I'll check out your sites for sure! And, i agree...if everyone did that....how beautiful the world would be! thank you for the comment :)-

Paying someone a compliment on the way they look, or their hair. Letting someone know you appreciate them and who they are, or letting them know you appreciate the things they do to try and help you out each day. Also just paying attention to someone showing them you care about what they are saying to you is a big one as well.

I know compliments make me feel better! & i never thought about what you mentioned last, about listening to someone, because if you think of how doing the opposite would make them feel pretty bad. I know i dislike when you talk to someone & you know they're not listening. I get that at work a lot! thanks for the reply! :)-

Hi. JodeneB. Welcome to myLot! Yesterday, I complimented a young woman that recently had a baby. She is entering her baby into a baby contest. I told her that her baby was very beautiful. Her baby was so precious, she looked just like a doll baby. I enjoy complimenting others, it makes me feel good, so good. I am glad that her compliment made your day. It is wonderful to receive compliments, it makes us feel so much better about ourselves.

I totally agree with you. I like that something so simple can make such a huge change in a person. It seems these days that there is so much negativity in the world and we don't tell each other that we appreciate them. positivity creates more! & thanks for the welcome! thanks for your reply. she must have been so cute!

Ah yes, the gift of gab. I always make it a point in my busy day to just talk with people along the way. Not only can a few words brighten someone's day, you never know what wisdom they might share with you.

Oh...I Like that one! that is so true! do you ever find that some people just don't want to talk to strangers, like they are all closed up? I have always considered myself to be shy and am working on changing that. I have been trying to network more & talk to people, and after i do so, i realize how good it feels to engage with others. you tend to feel a sort of connection, and i like that. And, like you mentioned, you never know what you'll learn. Thank you for your response!

A friend of mine owns an art gallery in town. She helped a lady who was living on the street by giving her food, a place to stay for a few days, and took care of the lady's cat. It was a very generous thing to do! And your right, smile are contagious! So are hugs. ;)

Im almost always smiling and I've had a few people on different occassions approach me and say "it's nice to see such a haapy person" and also since having my recent child I am even more happier and I had another lady say " You have a lovely vibe about you and I can see you love your child very much" Yes I do! he is so precious... I always when I find the opportunnity to help others I step in to help...IU enjoy it, it gives me the satisfaction.... I recently saw this young man trying to start his car, I thought about whether I shuold help at first just to be safe but then I thought no I'll offer and so I did... It makes people's day by offering help or as yoiu say a simple smile and compliment does go a very long way.... It brightens a person's soul....
