With eight to five staffs, salary is very important. They almost don't have other income outside it. The salary is fixed income.
However, life is always change. So, we sometimes meet a sudden problems which need money. We can't do anything. We need to ask for an advance on salary. This is very popular at companies in my city. And this is very normal.
How about with you? Is this normal in your city?

In fact here it is not so often to ask for an advance on salary. Most people are paid on time or delay. To the government or formal companies, the salaries will be paid automatically to your bank account on time. But to some bad compaines with mean bosses, some people's salaries may delay for a long time. Some even can not have their salaries for half a year. I really don't understand how they can survive from it.
I love China

I have never met the pending salary for a long time. The longest time late is about 10 days. If the company keep our salary too long, we'll have some good talk to managers to have some explains and to solve the problem.

Usually this happens only in private companies, if there are any, maybe you can advance in the form of loans or whatever. But for us, who receive our salaries thru checks from our main office, we can not do otherwise but to wait for our checks to arrive. And we are used to it already. We haven't experienced getting our salaries in advance.

Well, no. That's because there are no salary advances in our company. We don't have that, so no one does it. :)

As other people have mentioned, companies here normally do not allow you to have an advance on your salary. When I was a teenager, though, I worked for a small business where I worked with the owner and his wife personally. Mostly they employed teenagers, and they knew us all very well. We were allowed to have advances on our salary during the week, and they would keep track of how much we used during the week and take the money out of our pay at the end of the week. It was really nice to be able to do that, especially since it meant that they trusted us.

well, i need to tell you something in China. For those poor, the salary is very limite. They often cant get their salary on time, even, the government wont do some benefit things for those poor people. The leaders lie to poors,,dont worry, you will get your money.Unforunately, the fat makes people more diapointed. An advance on salary? Dont think about it,i wish i can get my salary on time.

Yes, salary is something very important. Because we do not know when there be an emerengency and suddenly, we need money urgently. therefore, it is very important for us to save money on our bank for rainy days.
I personally have not ask for advancement in salary yet. Because i always tell myself to save up for rainy day so that in such cases, I make sure I still have extra. Furthermore, i think if one keep asking for advancement in salary, the boss might not be very happy?
It's normal in your city? Where are you staying?

This is unheard of where I live. We consider it the responsibility of the individual to have enough money saved for an emergency.

In my case I don't ask for advances. Blessed by God though that I am able to sustain. I worked in a very strict company when it comes to loans or advances. So as long as I can, I don't ask for advance salary.

No company here pays for work that hasn't been done yet.Usually there is some lead time before you get that first check, and it will be for time you have put in.If they paid in advance, what would stop someone from hiring on,getting the first check, and never showing up to work?

of course it is normal in our city.I think it is also normal in others.I consider that the significance of many staffs'work is to earn money then you can do everything by it.since work is for money, who do not want an advance on salary.for instance;I often ask for an advance on salary when in my work time. But my boss always tell me.your work is reward this salary.I was silence at that time.what i want to do is to work hard to get more payment.so asking for an advance on salary also can take an active way on working.it is my responding.thanks!

Well, I never have a thought on that. Even if I have a financial problems, I never ask for a salary because it's a sensitive matter. Although I never ask for it, my salary has already advanced for 20% in the first 3 months. Six months later, I get 20% advance. And finally, two months later, I get 40% advance because I'm hard worker based on my Boss' words. At first, I don't realize I'm doing the job well. Perhaps, it's because that I enjoy my job.

No company here actually allows advance salary, but perhaps small privately owned companies may allow. Usually the bigger corporations will not allow for such.
Three are companies that may allow for loans but then it is with interest and they deduct the schedule repayment from the salaries.
