How real is near-death-experience (NDE)?

I have read a lot about near death experience (NDE) and was really wondering how true they are... I mean is there any valid evidence as of yet? People say they see a bright light in NDE, communicate with light and been given a life review in a timeless environment. Timeless in the sense, being at different places simultaneously. They also claim that they feel an unconditional love in near death experience amongst other things... How far is this true and proven?

I have no idea if it is true or not. I have only heard the story from people that I truly cannot totally believe. I would have to see it for myself to believe it or have it happen to someone that I can trust.

I am an atheist and I believe that the bright light is a figure of one's imagination that the they believe is something holy.
