Underage Body Tattoos and piercings

I have seen kids do some pretty stupid stuff, but getting tattoos and piercings, I think that's over the line. These children have a future and an unsightly tattoo could cost them a job, or even a college degree. I think that we need to do something about this new trend among teens.

I am surprised that you can see children under 18 with a tattoo, as this is illegal (at least in the UK). What do you think about people who get a tattoo in a location which can be easily covered up? If they have one on the shoulder, back, stomach etc., this would not normally be seen in a work situation. As for piercings, they are easily removed so I don't see them as a problem.

I live in the US and I'm not currently aware of the laws for tattoos but I agree, piercings aren't as harmful.
