I know this elderly lady who is a grandmother. It seems her children are always asking her to babysit her grandchildren. Yes, like all grandmothers, she spoils them a bit. The kids love her to death. I was talking to her the other day. She was complaining that those grandchildren were about to get the best of her. She said she was about to stop babysitting. I know this lady really well. She just loves children, the more, the merrier. She was just having a bad day. I said. Now granny, you don't really want to get rid of those grandkids, do you?? It will be awful lonely without them. People are Empathic. THE VIEW OF THE YOUNG ALLOW ELDERLY PEOPLE TO SEE THE SAME VIEW AND TO STAY YOUNG AT HEART THEMSELVES!! Where would elderly people be without grandkids keeping them young??? Well, my friend couldn't help but agree. Children make life Grand!! Tell me how the young people are keeping you young. If you are feeling old, worn out, seek out the youth. Perhaps they have something they can teach you.

Are you also a grandad? You are right, associating with the young people will make ourselves FEEL younger - I stressed out the word feel cause the body would still grow old, but the feeling will die young.

The body might grow old but the Spirit is Eternal. As we grow old, we tend to focus on the physical. The young show us our spiritual side. They remind us we are eternal. What a Joy!!

Yes, WE ALWAYS KNEW THAT!!! OK, let's don't get too excited. What is the old saying?? When I'm good, I'm good, but when I'm bad, I'm better!! Seems there is a bit of that in you too!!

I love visiting with my grand children, but mostly do it by phone as they live over 600 miles away. I get tickled by kids, both physically and figuratively at times. I was in the dairy store the other day and felt something tickling the back of my leg and jumped. A little girl had just sort of brushed against me. No big deal. It was funny that I jumped. Then her mommy says to her "Say excuse you" meaning that she should say "excuse me" to me, but she just looks up in her little girl voice and says "excuse you". That made me laugh even more. I have stayed home too much the last year or so. I need to get out and about with kids again.

Even the two year old likes to carry around the cards I send her. She gets a very strong emphasis on the word "Mine". We talk on the phone often as well.

Even though you live far from them, it does seem like you are getting in that Quality time. Good for everyone.

Yes, there is no better fun than children. 600 miles away, that's pretty tough. How about making them a home made card saying thinking of you. Make it crazy and goofy. It will get them to return one to you. Those home made cards from kids can be priceless. We don't really need a special occasion now do we??? Even play by mail can be fun. Kids also love to get mail especially addressed to them.

Where do they get all that energy?? I don't ever remembering having that much but I'm sure I did as well. Maybe all we can really take is a visit. That is long enough to get their wonderful view on things.

Hi bird: I have never thought about this advice but you are probably right. That's actually a good way to stay being active. Some little kids are too naughty for their grandparents to take care but in general I think that's the best way to remember the beauty of being a child and innocent and at least for a while, feeling like a little one. Yes, in the seriousness of this world, we must learn to play. Too many neglect this. The results end in high stress and health problems. We must not forget to stop and smell the roses in life. What better way than fun, play, and laughter. Kids teach this very well. Yes, if only we remember the fun we had as a child.

yes very true , to stay young at heart and physically we just have to mingle with the young ones especially our most loved. I also felt this way . I enjoy playing with the young ones. once i do this i felt unexplainable , it is so good. and I really love it.

Yes, and they grow up so fast. We can't miss those wonderful opportunities. The best of life is right now and sometimes we don't realize that. I love it as well.

Hi bird, I am somebody who is more comfortable with people in younger crowd. I do tend to behave a bit like them as well. But honestly, I feel safer with them, and enjoy their company a whole lot more. Here too, Saphy, Hora_fugit, Mario, Zed, Shames, Voldi, all youngsters actually. I spend time teasing them. They are fun actually. You are also one of the younger ones. :)

Yes, children do bring those smiles. They are priceless!! Four generations, huh? Sounds like a house full. I bet no one gets lonely around your house, always something going on. I bet mom at 90 has some wonderful stories to tell. Better put her to work sharing all that wonderful knowledge she carries.
