Writing stories and poems

I have many ways in which I like to write. One of the ways I like to write is with poetry that is free flowing. What I mean by free flowing is that it does not rhyme. My poetry is very touching yet inspirational at the same time. Some of the poems I have written deal with Mothers and gifted doctors. The poem that I title a DOCTORS GIFT deal exactly with this very subject of a doctor not only a gift to his family also a gift to his patients.
I am also writing a story that has taken on a life of its own. I feel like this story is being channeled through me by some unknown being. I feel strange when I am doing this type of writing. I must admit this story has become very interesting from just a simple short story to a full novel for young adults. To write while in trance is very strange and I feel not quite myself for several day after a session of channeling and writing with this being who is telling me this story. Can any one tell me how to reground myself after this intense writing session with the being that is telling my this tale.
I also keep a dream journal to help me figure out my dreams and what they mean. I was wondering if any one else kept such a journal. Some of the dreams I have writen about deal with past life issues and I find it is a way for me to deal with this much pain from losses that I have had in this life time.

Interesting story this! It is not difficult to get back to reality. All what you need to do is start living. Be involved with something that is not imaginary but real.

I do live my life after I have been writing. I just find it hard to ground after writing and that is my problem. I am looking for ways to ground after I have been writing for several hours which only feel like minutes when I writing. Any sugguestion on how to ground after that kind of writing.

I have a suggestion. Write a story on how one writer got his grounding back to reality. As you are writing you are giving yourself suggestions. Got it?

I'm with the other answerer. It's common and normal to feel as if your story has a life of its own and all you are doing is putting it down on paper, and to feel a bit odd when you stop living in the world of your story and go back to real life.
But you have to do it...and you do it by going off and doing the real life jobs you have to do.
My dreams aren't interesting enough to bother keeping a dream journal, but my husband writes any interesting dreams he has down and has used several of them as the basis for stories.
