I gave birth last february 2011 through cesarean section. It is almost three months and I am still wearing abdominal binder. My officemate who is a nurse suggested that I should wear adbominal binder for one year because this will help me to return to my pre-pregnancy shape or weight. Do you have any idea how long should I wear abdominal binder? Will it really helps my tummy to quickly shrink back to its normal shape and size?

Hi angelo315,
I was also in caesarian section (bikini cut)with my son year 2008. I am working in a call center that time and my approved leave is only 3 weeks time. Same with you I'm also using binder as the doctor recommend for faster healing of the cut made from CS. After 2 weeks, my doctor told me that the outer layer of the wound is already healed but still have to put on my binder. I continue putting on my microfilm to avoid the scar. Of course I continued the binder for about 2 months for faster back to shape.
To get in shape, doing the postpartum exercises and watch your diet also helps.

I think I will continue using binder. I did not encounter any problem in using one, I am comfortable with it. As I observed, my tummy is gradually returning to its pre-pregnancy shape (maybe it's psychological only). What are the pospartum exercises? Are there videos of it? When did you start to do the pospartum exercises? I would appreciate your response.

I think wearing abdominal binder can really help to get you back in shape because it help to put back your internal organs to its proper position and abdominal binder is also like the binder that use to make your belly sweat but the disadvantage of wearing abdominal binder is, it can make your wound feel so itchy. I never experienced wearing it but my aunt told me about her experienxe in this binder. You need to wear it until you feel that your wound is already healed.
