When I was young, whenever I watch TV my mom would peek at what I am watching. Every time she sees that I am waching anime she would always lecture and that I should find better channels because I learn nothing from watching anime . This routine continued over and over again.
One day while I was watching anime my mom passed by, I was expecting another lecture but to my surprise she sat down and watched. It was Fairy tail, the episode was when Gajeel just joined fairy tail. Even more to my surprise she remembered that Gajeel was an enemy before. WHHHHAAAAATTTT???? She even asked about the previous episode. AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Since then, if she isn't busy she would watch some animes particularly Fairy tail. If she misses a few episodes she would ask what happened and I'd explain. I guess anime kinda grew on her, mostly the comedic genre. AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! It kinda feels strange that my mom would watch it with me, but kind of nice in a way too.
What about you? What anime does your parent/s watch?

If My parents watches anime i would have stayed with them and never moved out but sadly they like soap operas, basketball game and the depressing evening news. I'm so jelous of those people will cool otaku parents. I wish my parents were cool as them but my aprents loves being old and acting even older so yeah I moved out. I have a friend whose's mom is so cool, his mom watches anime and she even cosplays.

Wow, that's one coool mom! I hope some parents are like that ;) Honestly,
I am already an adult ( in my early thirty-sh) ... still I love watching anime!
I've been watching some since high school ... way back when cable TV and internet is not very popular. I'm kinda frustrated then cuz anime where either "cut" w/o prior notice, outdated or placed in an "odd" time-slot (where kids then hardly watch or same time as news program, popular show or soap operas). Furthermore, I never finished, even once (then) an anime that I like (like Dragonball or Voltes V, even sentais like Bioman)
Now that everything is accessible, I am so happy that I can now watch my old faves, and even new ones like Fairy Tail, Bleach and some new faves. In fact, at my age, I should have "outgrown" watching such, but I'm not. Its a "child-like part" of me, animes are not only for kids or teens, its for everybody who enjoys watching it.
On my part, I make sure that these "new age" animations fit to my "age" and Fairy Tail is one of them. For me, I see Fairy Tail, more than just cutesy Lucy or hot-heading brawl of the guild, or mere adventures and quests. Its more like valuing friendship and family; most of all the positivity of never giving-up attitude(like Natsu - that's why he's one of my favorites!).
Someday I will be a parent, too. And I see myself stil watching anime with my kids.

Haha, that was nice to hear, and it looks like it also becomes a bonding moment between you and your mom!
As to my part, our mom didn't watch those shows with me or with my brother but she didn't oppose as well, sometimes she will just ask why we are fond of watching those...hehe. But it was my father who's into anime and even other cartoons like sponge bob and tom & jerry! Sometimes it my brother and I who get fun of our father for always watching those shows and we ask him what our mom asked us before! lol!
My brother, father and husband are all fan of Naruto! and me? Detective Conan.

Ahaha..where the same, my mom always lecture me when she catches me watching anime but later on she become fed up with it and let me be. But she doesnt watch anime. it must be nice if my mom also likes anime then our bonding time would increase and we could become much closer. I did try to convince her to watch with me but she wont listen to me. i guess she has a feeling that if she watch it with me and she come to like it she feel that she lose to me. My mom hate to lose shes kinda stubborn. She is always right.haha
Happy mylotting :)

Hi dranreb!!!
Good for you!!! My mother never liked anime ever since until now. She only like those Korean drama series. I can't remember any instances when my mother gave even just a glimpse to the anime I'm watching. She's just no interested. The only thing we've got in common when it comes to television is the like for Hollywood movies. I used to watch Korean drama series on television, too but I "graduated" from it. Well, not totally because I watch sometimes but I'm not addicted anymore.

My dad doesn't care about what I watch but my mom was the same way. She used to always say that I was like a little kid because I wouldn't stop watching my anime. But my siblings and I eventually persuaded her to watch Dragonball Z with us and at first she didn't really care for it but she learned to like the show. It wasn't until I made her watch Rurouni Kenshin with me that she really started getting into anime. The funny thing is that years down the line she'd still remember certain things about certain shows that even I have forgotten. The other day she was talking about Buu and I was like "What the heck? You still remember all that?"

That's pretty funny. My parents don't particularly like watching anime. They are adults and so I think they "now" prefer to watch news. My brothers and I do watch anime and we really enjoy it. Sadly, I'm not watching Fairy Tail, but I am aware that there is finally an anime for it. Back then there was only the manga. I stopped with it for a while because I have studying I need to do. It'll be a huge distraction. I just can't get out of my seat once i watch my favorite animes. hehehe! Happy mylotting!

Oh yeah! My mom also tells me about that. 'You won't learn anything from those Japanese anime'. However, I showed her an anime. It was also Fairy Tail! And she kind of like it. She's not really watching the whole thing but she knows some of the characters and even the new ones in the manga. I was like . Fairy tail is really one of those animes which showcases a lot of moral lessons. That's why I really love Fairy Tail!

Neither of my parents watch anime, but I watch it from time to time. But, I think it's so cool that your mom watches anime with you. I guess it'll give you more of a bond with her and a chance to spend more family time.
