Hello there! So a couple of days ago, my mom just got from the grocery and I was foraging for stuff to eat. The I saw that she bought cheese and grapes, both of which I like snacking on. The idea struck me, why not save me the time and eat them together. Its sounded like a good idea cos in my mind I kinda felt that their taste may blend or compliment or something like that. And they did. I loved it so much that I ate the whole bunch of grapes and a good deal of cheese with it. Hehe. When I told Ohsodianne about it, she got weirded-out with the idea. I wanna know if there's anyone out there who shares the same idea with me. Or am I alone in my weirdness? :)

Cheese with a sweet accompaniment is very common. The sweetness of the fruit or condiment helps to clear the palate and allow one to better taste the cheese. I serve with cheese (and eat) grapes, pears, apples and (when I can buy it) a condiment made out of quinces which has the consistency of a cheese. There are many combinations of sweet and savoury which are very commonly served together. The American 'peanut butter and jelly' sandwiches, ham and pineapple on a pizza, pork and apple sauce, turkey with cranberry jelly and many recipes where meat is cooked with fruits, to name but a few.

The Spanish name for it is 'dulce de membrillo'. I would expect to find it in specialist cheese shops, some delicatessens and larger stores like Waitrose: http://www.waitrose.com/shop/ProductView-10317-10001-2339-Waitrose+Cano%27s+membrillo+Spanish+quince I have to say that I have never tried to buy it in the UK. The only supplies I have had were from my niece who lives in Spain.

there's a lovely cheese shop not too far from me, and as well as the quince jelly, they have jellies from other fruits. and they're pretty much all delicious. country cheeses they're called. they don't have online ordering, although they have a website and the shop details are there, and they do mail order.

Ive heard of quince jelly but I've never been able to find it in the UK. I think it's much more popular in Spain.

not unusual at all. as a few people have mentioned, a cheeseboard is very often served with grapes. apples are also fantastic with cheese.

I think cheese and grapes compliment one another perfectly and go very well together, but at the same time I feel that you can eat and enjoy whatever foods (together) you wish, even if other people freak out at the idea. For instance, if you love a blob of ice cream on your hot dog, then go for it lol.

I haven't had that combination but I guess it sounds interesting. But I am not sure whether I will think the same after the first bite. Will give it a try though since I like trying out new things.

Yeah! You should try it as well! I love trying new things too. And once in a while I stumble into something good. Like this, apparently! :)

Well I'm willing to try anything but I'll have to wait for the grapes to come into season. It's a little early yet. I eat just about anything with cheese. My most disgusting favorite - cheese with pineapple rings covered in hot English mustard!

Oh. From what I read, its really a good combination. From what I tasted, it really is. :) Hope you get to try some for yourself! As for your disgusting favorite, I'm yet to comprehend how it looks like. Hehe. How does it taste? I have no idea what English mustard taste like though. But if you enjoy it that much, I wanna try it too. :)

This used to be my favorite snack not too long ago. I prefer to eat red grapes with cheese instead of white grapes. However recently I have cut out a lot of dairy. I used to love cheese and yogurt but I noticed I was constantly congested so I stopped eating dairy and my congestion for the most part had cleared up so I can't eat my favorite snack combo now. I'll only eat cheese once in a while on a burger but eating a block of it with a bunch of grapes is out not but it did taste good.

Hi. thelaundrybuddy. Welcome to myLot! I have seen people eat cheese and grapes as a combination at many banquets, weddings, bachelor parties, receptions, formal balls, and cocktail parties of many kinds. It is considered to be an appetizer. This is quite normal. It is a refreshing, nutritious and delicious combination that is very tasty. There is nothing wrong with eating grapes and cheese together. Just try not to over stuff yourself, you may get bloated with gas.

Cheese and grapes is a normal meal combination for people in the Mediterranean. I love it. The sweetness of the grapes pairs nicely with the saltiness of the cheese. Yumm

I've never had that. I usually have those sweet cherries (the kind that they put in cakes) with cheese. I'm going to try grapes and cheese the next time we have both in the house lol.

I make a sort of dip to go aong with crakers that has Philadelphia cream cheese and, on top, half grapes, peeled and seeded. Around the dish, or on the side, I place the crakers. They taste awesome. Nothing is weird as eating goes, as I see it. At the most, there are some things we donĀ“t like. I will not get near a MacDonalds or KF Chicken , for instance.

It is delicious! I used to eat apples with cheese(learned that from my father),but since then I discovered other combinations that taste good, and are good for you as snacks:apples and peanut butter, celery sticks or the stem of the broccoli,or cauliflower with peanut butter or almond butter .So I do not think you are weird!!!

I think cheese and grapes are a well-known combination. For example, when I went for a meal in a restaurant recently, one of the party ordered a cheese board for desert. When it arrived, there was a bunch of grapes on it, along with some celery sticks. Pears are another good combination with cheese.

Really? So I'm not that weird after all! Hehe. But knowing that, I wanna try a lot more different combinations with cheese. Cos you know, cheese is an absolute good! :)
