It all depends on how you think & how you perceive things. If you think God is there, then definetly he's there for you. I seriously don't know why I'm here & what's my purpose. I may realise my purpose on this world one day. We don't find answer for few questions, they remain as unresolved questions for lifetime. My question is who has got time in this world to think about all these questions? Everybosy is busy with their own work & we are least bothered to give a try for these questions. One should become saint & start meditating & develop spirituality to know about this. Normal human beings like us just laugh when anyone asks these questions to us. All I can say is there should be a creator of this world & we call him "God". It's just a belief that some one will save us in our bad times. I just gave you my opinion & it may not sound true to you but that's how I think & perceive things in my life. Have a nice day....

We are here because ... because ... because we can't NOT be here?
Well, we can decide to not be here; but that decision takes away the power to choose to be here, and so--between 'having a choice' and 'not having a choice'--we choose to have the choice (choice-words, no?)
Like The Architect said in MATRIX RELOADED, "The problem is 'choice.'"
So in a manner of speaking, we actually have no choice at all. We do have a choice between 'being' and 'not being', but it's just that if we choose the wrong one then we don't get to choose anymore.

It is part of human nature to search for meaning in life. To find that purpose, we developed religion. We developed laws that came from that creator. Now, that didn't answer your question. The belief in God requires faith. There is no way to prove the existance of God just as there is no way to prove there is not one. Science can theorize about the beginning from the big bang forward. They have no idea what caused the big bang. What existed just before that event?
I believe we are here to know ourselves and find the truth about ourselves. A belief system gives us framework for that search. Finding your purpose means finding what you believe to be true. That search you must take on your own.
