I think the whole thing was a publity stunt. He never thought about seriously running. Thank goodness!

Think so?
I know most of you here don't like him, his show or his network but Lawrence O'Donnell made the prediction several weeks ago on his show "The Last Word" on MSNBC that Donald Trump would be out of the Presidential race as of May 16 when NBC announced their line-up for the fall. I think he has the right to gloat a little about this, don't you?

I don't know about insider information but I think O'Donnell felt fairly confident The Apprentice would be renewed since NBC doesn't have too many hit shows. I don't know how Trump would have gotten out of it if his show had been canceled!

The predictions may have been made but for me it wasn't certain until I saw the article about Celebrity Apprentice being picked up. That was the clincher. Unlike Lawrence O'Donnell, I don't have insider information/gossip/whatever to the network programming. If he heard of the line-up weeks ago through the grapevine, then he also came to the obvious conclusion.

I never thought he was really going to run. Maybe he just loves publicity. Maybe he did the whole gig as a favor to Obama, to give him a good excuse to release the birth certificate. He certainly couldn't have gotten through the next election season without settling it. This way it doesn't look like he was giving in to other candidates, but simply doing the intelligent and reasonable thing to stop Trump's accusations. Without Trump, consenting to the release of the BC would have seemed like he was giving in.
At least Trump isn't clouding the field anymore. I never did quite trust him.

Anyone who has been in business as long as he has, and who has made (and lost) as much money as Trump, probably has way too many skeletons in his closet to get elected.
Journalists would begin picking over every deal he has ever done looking for the slightest impropriety the moment he said said he'd run. For that reason he probably decided to step back from it.
