What form of electronics do you usually find yourself fighting with?

I was printing this book my mother is planning to sell in a fund-raiser for her friend who has b-r-e-a-s-t*cancer. I was in charge of layouting and printing. I was finished with the initial draft since two days ago. And now, I have yet to finish printing a full copy of the final version. The printer just won't cooperate.
I would probably understand if I was printing pages in full color, but the book hardly has any colored pages, and those I don't print one after another. It's not just now either. Even at work I'm always fighting with the printer.
What about you? What electronic device do you usually find yourself frustrated with?
*I can't seem to allow mature content no matter how many times I change my preferences. Please excuse the temporary fix.

I've had my shares of battles with stupid printers. Although the toughest I've operated is a classic lamp. Yep, I'm not really that well-oriented with classical devices. We have this gas-powered lamp that we had to use when the electricity went out just a few days back. I had to figure out how it works before I got it to and it took me about 30 minutes to operate it. I got burned in the process.

My apologies for the late reply, but I wouldn't want to leave any replies unnoticed. ^-^ I think I may know what lamp you're talking about. I remember watching my relatives light one and I couldn't figure out their system to light it. Until now even. I hope that burn healed well. :(

No problem. That's what the email notify is for. I'm also surprised at how many versions of that lamp have existed, quite many.

Hi Dear harck! My printer has always been a trouble maker for me. I don't use printer on regular basis and here I have an extreme climate.I have extremely hot weather in summer which makes the head of my cartridge to get dry and in winter we have too much of cold which makes the ink clog in the cartridge! So it is always a big headache for me to get a hard copy out of the printer which I mange to get after cleaning the cartridge every time with some soft old cloth! Now I got used to it and I am mentally prepared to tackle the problem!
But presently under the hot sun of summer season, I am finding that my AC is not working properly. One of the AC of my hall got burnt and I think the second one is also on the verge of breathing its last! I will have to call the AC mechanic to get it checked and fix it! Without the Ac it is very difficult here to stay as my farm is situated in an area which is almost similar to a desert!
Thanks for the discussion I enjoyed participating in it!

We only have two seasons where I'm from: dry and wet. Unfortunately, we use our printer on a regular basis, so there's always some kind of trouble to deal with. Sometimes, it's just a matter of using force on the poor electronic. Sometimes, you just have to give in.
I hope your AC holds on and you get the other one fixed. Best of luck on your farm.

Well, I'm a constant computer user so it would be safe to say that most of my frustration and anger is often directed at my computer peripherals. The most part who gets the most abuse is my modem - mainly becuase as any computer user, I am always impatient for the modem to give me a satisfactory internet speed. My internet provider isn't as always prompt in delivering satisfactory service and I tired long ago of calling them to ask what is wrong with their service.
The second peripheral on the list is my printer. Ever since I used that particular machine to print my necessary work, it has a long no love lost between me and the printer. A few years back, I bought the simplest to use printer that I could lessen my frustration when I am using it. Up to now, I am still battling the printer (and its software) when it comes to low ink warnings (the software has its mood swings of telling me the true condition of my ink cartridge) and refilling paper.
The latest is my computer itself. Somehow my computer stopped working. The power is on but the screen is blank. It forced me to pull out my battery so I don't have to drain all the power. I have to run the computer in safe mode before I properly start the computer again. I hope that it won't cause me any serious damage as I wanted to make use of my computer as far as it can go.

You seem to have a lot of problems there. I'm glad you've learned how to deal with them. Your internet provider doesn't seem to have very good costumer service, do they? I hope they act on your problem one of these days.
As for the printer, well... you've probably said it all. Also, you should probably get your computer checked. That screen and startup problem sounds serious.

Well maybe in my situation I can say it's my DVD burner on my laptop. Recently I've been doing backup copies of data on my laptop and burned lots of CDs. Then one time the spindle at the center (the one holding the disc) just snapped in 3 parts and disintegrated.
Actually this already happened a few months earlier, and I just tried to fix it with some super glue and melted plastic. But right now it's broken again and I still don't have the money to buy a new one.
It's really a hassle because I have to stop my backup session until I get a new one. Sigh

Wow, that fix a few months ago must've been awesome to last so long. I hope you get that burner replacement soon. I suppose you would have to be extra careful so nothing potentially format-worthy accidents will happen. I hope it doesn't act up on you anymore when you get that replacement.

harck, you may find it cheaper to get your mum's book printed by someone else using a big commercial printer. Little home use ones just aren't intended for intensive use. They get hot, and the ink is very expensive. I'd recommend you see if there is a printer or bookbinder nearby. The more profits you get for the fundraiser the better :)
My printer drives me nuts too. If I print from Firefox on my home computer, it always says the paper is the wrong size (after printing the file correctly!) and the only way to get rid of the message is to turn off both the printer and the computer :(

We would've, but the local printing press only takes works that'll print in the hundreds. We only needed around thirty or forty copies, so we decided to print it ourselves. It's seventy-two pages long but uses only nineteen sheets. Also, we have our printer converted to a continuous ink system, so it makes life simpler.
We all seem to have lots of problems with printers, don't we? In fact, we're still not finished printing those copies since the printer keeps acting up.
