I've been real busy lately trying to figure out how to get my husband seen by a doctor so he can get his prescriptions filled.
We don't have health insurance or the money to go to the doctor. So, the doctor that did his emergency heart surgery gave him prescriptions and when they run out I call the pharmacy and they call the doctor and new refills get done.
Well the last time I called to have that done they said that the doctor wouldn't okay for it to be done because it has been over a year and he need to be seen every year to have refills. What was nerve racking is his medicine was about out and he has to have them to live.I called the doctors office and told them that he is about out and they said they can't help that then I finally got them to where they gave the pharmacy an okay for a months worth and told me that I had to get him to a doctor before the medicine runs out this time or I will be in the same boat.
I called around and couldn't find doctors that were to where we could afford to go. I finally found that there was a free clinic that was open on Tuesday's and Thursdays. You had to call for an appointment the day before the day they were open between the hours of 9;00 A.M and 11:00 A.M. I called at 9:15 A.M they said that there appointments were already full. SO, I called Wednesday to try to get him in Thursday. The same thing happened for 3 weeks. I finally got through before they got all of there appointments for the next day.I was glad he got in we had to be there for like 5 hours but at least he got his medicine before it ran out and he qualified to be seen there.

I could never understand why it was so hard to get in to see a doctor and why people can't get insurance easier. I'm glad he finally was able to get in and get his prescriptions filled because it would not be good to run out. I just wish there was some kind of program for people who make too much to qualify for medicaid and not enough to be able to purchase insurance. Either that or that there were more clinics that could deal with the people who are in that group.

Actually, in some ways I wish I were a doctor. I guess I would settle for being rich. I would set up a free clinic for the people who can't get care anywhere else. I might ask for some kind of donation (time, goods, or services) from people who are able, but not cash unless they felt the desire to make a monetary donation. If there were 5-10 doctors that were willing to donate half a day a week to the cause and someone were to donate space for the clinic, it could work. Of course, it would eat into profits of being in medicine, but it would be rewarding to those who donate their time and it would be helpful for those served. I am doing ok right now. Thanks!

I know I wish there was programs like that too. If I was rich that is what I would donate money too is to open clinics up that anyone can go too because sometimes people that make too much money to go to some clinics can't afford doctors either.
Thank you for commenting. How are you doing? Have a good weekend!

I know it's rough trying to survive without health insurance. I'm glad you found a way to get your husband's prescription without it costing you an arm and a leg.

Thank you. I called around at lots of doctors and they were asking too much money for office visits and needing the money upfront. We didn't have it. It was scary. I'm glad that I got him in. We found out after we were there that the clinic is only for giving prescriptions out so if one of us gets sick we still can't go.If an emergency happens we will just go to the emergency room and hope they can figure out what is wrong since you get a bill for thousands of dollars no matter what they do there.Hospitals can't give you prescriptions that last they only can give them to you for a short amount of time so least we can do that now.

I am glad I have Health Insurance especially with all I have been going thru. It seems like Medical help for people anymore is getting harder and harder to find, and they just want your money even if you are having problems paying. Many times it makes you want to Scream and wish someone there could trade places with you so they could see what it feels like. But glad to hear that you were able to get some help and get the Medication you needed as well. That is always Good.

I know you have been going through a lot. You probably wouldn't still be a live if you didn't have insurance with everything you've been dealing with. It sounds like it is hard enough when you do have insurance on getting the help you need. On doctors figuring out how to help someone.
To find out the free clinic only does medication. It doesn't take care of any other health problems but being able to get his medication is better then nothing since he can't live without his medicine.Hopefully he doesn't have any other health problems later on. Hopefully they get you healthy feeling again with the right medicines. I've been following what you have been going through. I'm glad that you haven't lost your faith. So many people do after going through so much. I will continue to pray for you and thank you for commenting and the nice words.

I know we can't mess around when it comes to his health. It is scary when you can't afford health insurance. Health insurance is so high and no one will see you without it.This clinic is helping out being able to get prescriptions but they don't help you if you were to get sick. They only do that so hopefully we don't need a doctor for anything serious. I've seen lots of people die because they couldn't afford to get the medicines they need then to afford to go to the doctor too.

I mean that is sucks isn't it? Living in the United States, you have no health insurance to help you out, and you couldn't to afford to get sick. When the doctor require you pay, and you have no money, you simply wait and die. I hate that happen, I wish that our government can give us all free medication and doctor appointment. I just heard that Obama health plan won't work out.

I'm glad to hear that after all the troubles, everything worked out fine. It is really har if you do not have an health insurance. When you get sick or a family member get sick, you do not have all the means to take care of yourself or them. I wish you and your family good health. It is nice that you did not give up until you were able to get medicine for your husband.

It is scary and what is bad is even that free clinic doesn't take care of sicknesses only gives prescriptions and that is all.But at least they do that since that is what we need right now.

In my country INDIA, we can just walk in to any hospital or to any doctor , without thinking of pre paid insurance's policy . Yes we have Insurance , but not mandatory for the treatment. poor people who dosen't afford to pay issuance amount , dosen't mean that he will not get good treatment. We have hospitals which do free heart surgeries. Anyway I am happy to know that everything is fine at your end.

Here you can go into a hospital but not a doctors office without money with you but you will get a real high bill and hospitals are only for emergency they won't see you for normal doctors office like visits.
Doctors offices won't see you if you don't have the money that they charge with you. They charge a real high amount.

Sorry to hear this margery, but it is exactly the same here in IL. I too do not have health insurance at all. If I were to need a free clinic it would be the same way also. I am just glad though that although such a pain that you persisted.
There are some like us with the health insurance and some get so frustrated that they neglect to follow through and sadly those get really sick later.
Hope is well and that the expenses do not continue to increase.

I know it can be a mess. What is bad is that free clinic doesn't take care of people if they get sick I found out. They only take care of getting patients prescriptions but least my husband can get his medicine now.I was hoping that it would take care of people if they got sick too but it doesn't.Thank you for responding. You have a wonderful week!

What you need is relaxation and peace in my. Please be noted that stress can bring more damage to your mind physically and emotionally. Have a short vacation after your work, always drink liquids and eat foods with glucose like candies and chocolates, these could help in stimulating your minds and ideas. Hope I was able to help :D
