My 10 year old son is so excited for school to be out for the summer. Thursday will be his last day!I was getting to wonder if the school was going to have school last another month from all those snow days they missed since I didn't get no letter on when school was going to be out until today.I called last week to see when the last day was.
I asked him if he is going to sing "School is out for the summer!" He said no because he will be too excited to sing that!
A lot of states schools will probably be out for the summer this month.I bet there is a lot of happy kids.I'm lucky I don't work and can stay home with my son when he is out. I bet it is real hard during that time for parents that have to work to try to figure out who and how there kids are going to be taking care of during that time.

For us school will let out at the end of next month, and they won't start up again until just after labor day in the beginning of September.
School being out won't change anything for us really. I generally work in the evenings and my FIL babysits.. so that won't change.
Though when school starts back up again this fall I'm going to resume my search for a part time secretarial job.

My mom said that when she was a kid that school started then too. She was going to school in Wisconsin.
That's cool that your FIL watches the kids. It is cool that the kids will get to see their grandpa more too.
Thank you for commenting!

I miss getting out for the summer. I graduated High School two years ago and have since been going to a college with an accelerated degree program... meaning I go to school during the summer. A bummer, but I figure it's more like real life in any event.
I remember that I used to count down the days to summer and enjoy every minute of it. I was really irked by some of my classmates because they'd return to school after summer and say, "Darrr... I was bored all the time. I didn't know what to do with myself." That always made me mad, cause how on earth do you not know what to do with yourself for three months? Don't you have hobbies? Talent? Hopes? Dreams? lol Lazy kids.

My College student son misses being able to be off for summer break too!He wishes he did. He only gets Christmas break off for 2 weeks and that is all. It makes a person get burned out! He goes to an online college.
I bet it did upset you those kids not liking having a summer break. Even if there isn't nothing to do just relaxing and doing things at home is better then not having a break at all.LOL.

I imagine going to an online college he could still spend loads of time at home. I feel like I live on campus, even though there aren't any dorms or anything and living on campus isn't really an option. lol I get two weeks off for Christmas break, or "winter" break as they like to call it... I like to call it Christmas break. All my friends at other colleges are always like, "Summer is coming!" and "What are you doing for Spring Break?" and I say, "What is this break you speak of?!?!?"
Mostly what bothers me is that I can't imagine not knowing what to do. When I'm on break I always feel like there's not nearly enough time to do all the things I want to do... I can't imagine just sitting around feeling bored the whole time!

My girls are very happy. Today was their last day. They have to go back Friday to get their gradecards..which I think is a waste..but anyway..it's just long enough for that and freedom rings..lol. I really don't have to worry about mine..well...not as far as childcare goes..they are a bit older. In the summmer..they usually sleep pretty late too...lol..

Tomorrow will be his last day of school. They will be having a last day of school party, award assembly and getting out early tomorrow.A lot of times I have to go to the school a week or two after school is out to get the report cards too. I always wished they would do like they did when I was a kid and give it to them the last day of school. When I was a kid enrollment day was the day they started school. Here you have to enroll them in school before school starts.
I used to sleep pretty late when I was a kid too. My youngest son has always got up real early no matter if he goes to bed real late sometime or not. My oldest son always got up late and still does.

The joyous time to be off for three months. Of course I remember that it was both a blessing and a curse. A blessing in the sense that it was three months off. A curse in the sense that I had to go back and it was really hard to get back in the groove. That is the worst part of summer vacation for me. The long and sluggish period whenever I go back, where it takes a few weeks to really get back in the groove.
Then again its going to be a short summer vacation for the children around here. They won't be getting out until the first week of June, due to having to make up snow days. Then they go back in the middle of August. Of course, I think I had a couple of summers like that, where it was rather short. Still pretty soon the screaming of excited children will fill the neighborhood. Right now its rather quiet. Seems like only yesterday it was last Summer. Where does the time go?

That is what I was thinking at first was happening at my sons school because they usually send letter the end of the month before they let out for the summer on when it will be and I didn't get it even when this month was here so I called the school to find out when it was. That is what I think all the time. Time flies so fast. It flies so fast sometimes I can't remember if something happened last year or 3 years a go.

My son has an extra week because of the snow days , he is 16 and I dont have to worry about when school is out just food man can that boy eat , when he was younger I just geared up for the increase in day care cost , I too wonder how some do it now that he is older I tend to forget those days , good luck and enjoy your time with your son

I know I am lucky that I get to stay home with him. My mom says all the time that she wished that she could stay home with me. She said that it used to make her sick when people at work said that they didn't have to work that they could afford to stay home but they were just working to get away from their kids. When she would've liked to be able to stay home with her kids if she could afford to.

Oh yes I do remember how difficult it was to get them up and going to a sitter, during the summer because mom had to work. I also had a few years where I was able to stay home during the summer and gosh we use to have a blast.
Back then the Library use to loan out free passes to all the museums and for free so we would pack picnics and sit out by the lake after wards so we always had a great deal of fun.
Have fun with your son!

Thank you for responding! Here they have a reading program during the summer at the library. They have different people come there like magicians and things and the kids need to get books from there and if they read a certain amount of books they get an award. I use to do that for my oldest son since I lived in the same town that they were doing that at. With my youngest son I haven't been able to do that since I don't live in the same town as a library that has that program.
I will have fun with him.
It sounds like you had lots of fun with your kids, that's good!
