Breakfast is should the most necessary meal of the day. When I do have children I would really like to train them to eat healthy breakfast. I really wanna know what foods are in for a healthy one. We sometimes cook eggs and ham but I am just worried about the cholesterol thingy so we switch on cereals like oatmeal and cornflakes with fresh milk. I have just read that bacon and egg could be a healthy one. What do you think? What do you have for breakfast?

New studies are out regarding eggs. The cholesterol in the egg is slightly different and the yolk and white together work on the body to burn fat. The cholesterol in the egg is found to be ok to consume and does not raise the levels in our bodies. Eggs are good. Oatmeal is one of the best foods for breakfast or a snack. There are turkey links available that taste like sausage, but do not have the high fat and cholesterol. I like those very much. Fresh or canned fruit is good for breakfast, maybe with some cottage cheese.

You are welcome! It is good news. I do hope those new studies are right. I do notice when I eat eggs I will lose weight. I need to eat them more often.

Unsweetened cereal, wholemeal bread or rolls (toasted or not), low-fat cheeses, fruit, kippers (no butter on them though), beans on toast, tomatoes on toast, scrambled eggs, yoghurt - sweeten cereals with dried fruits. Oatmeal/porridge is particularly good, especially if wholemeal.

While reading your response, I've thinking of having a french toast. Is this healthy too?

I think that you should add a fruit juice and eggs are ok. But the bad part about ham and eggs is the fat from the ham. Maybe you should try softboiled eggs, poached eggs or harboiled eggs (mashed and spiced are wonderful with bread).

Thank you and I tried them all. Kinda curious about having juice in the morning, isn't it acidic?

That is so nice of you to plan what you can prepare for your child. Try to prepare a variety of foods like grains (breads and cereals), protein (egg and nuts), fruits and vegetables and milk. Eggs is high on protein has choline which that can boost brain health. Oatmeals are great source of fiber. You can also add fruits on your child's diet to get the vitamins they need.

Hi jemilane, What I know is that cereals, milk, eggs, cheese, and fruits. Healthy breakfast in most narrow sense, research shows that kids who eat breakfast do better in school. Breakfast is very important to keep yourself energized and healthy. This is the most important meal of the day according to my mom. Many people skip their breakfast because of rushing to the office, to the school to avoid late due to the traffic. In this case, we tend to eat the wrong food and miss the important meal of the day. Most dieticians suggest that low fat diet is still the best choice of foods for breakfast. Traditional breakfast is what we are eating are commonly too sweet, too much fat content resulting to sudden fluctuations in your blood sugar levels. Various carbohydrates on blood sugar levels also called the glycemic index are usually associated with unhealthy consequences such as obesity or onset of diabetes and are more exactly to be avoided.

Yeah, you're right. Those cereals, milk and eggs are what I commonly know as healthy one. I was just surprised to read somewhere that bacon could also be a healthy one for a breakfast. I was glad to read 'coz I love breakfast. Could this be possibly true?
