Why the people get addicted to something?

We used to see the people get addicted to addict to something. Some people addicted to alcohol, some people addicted to drugs, some people are addicted to work all the time without rest etc., Why the people get addicted like this? Is there any genetical or hormonal reasons or if any other reasons?

Addiction depends on what you're addicted to. I was a chain smoker. I smoked every minute I feel like it. They said it's the nicotine that drives the addiction so that might be it. I guess if you do something repetitively over time you'll get addicted over it.

I don't think that things begin as addictions. we just can't help wanting more once something that pleases us comes our way. it can be difficult to stop somthing that takes us to a happier place than where we atart. knowing where to draw the line can be a difficult burden.
