In most situations I would choose interesting work instead of a lot of money. I like to work with people and I have had some jobs that I really liked. I have worked in kindergardens, homes for people with special needs, nursing homes and in home health care teams. I didn't earn a lot of money in those jobs, but I really enjoyed the work, I found it challenging and interesting and that was more important to me than the money. I have also had some jobs where I earned quite a lot of money. The work was pretty boring, but I was saving up for a trip, so I kept the job for a while despite the fact that I didn't really enjoy it.

Hi porcospino,
If you are not in dire necessity of a lot of money, what you have put is the ideal thing for any one to follow. Even I see if the work is interesting or not. If it goes positive then I can be sure that I would meet there some like minded people regardless to what amount of money I am getting in return. This is called job satisfaction.
Ofcourse we can not rule out the amount of money in return of my service. Like you I too would go there just earning money and when saw that enough has been earned would look for a job that would suit me.
Presently I am a college teacher and the salary too is not bad and the important thing is tat I love teaching and sharing. Since I get more than enough money I have not felt the necessity to look for some other high paying job.

If I can choice freely, I would always go for the most interesting work, even with lower salary. I prefer more having a good task at hand, with a peaceful environment to work in, rather boring job or being under pressure constantly even for more money.
Don't sure if the big salary comes with the interesting work though. It may happen of course, but it depends on where do you work, as some companies have low salary "policies" as go with that, rarely increasing salaries, while others pay much better for nearly the same workload.

I think I would rather have interesting work. I would work for free if it were interesting enough. I like to help people and when I do that it makes me feel good, but those kinds of jobs don't generally pay well. I volunteered with the Red Cross for over 6 years while I was living in NC and I loved it. Although my health doesn't allow me to go into the field right now, I talked to them yesterday and I will start this afternoon trying to get the paperwork caught up in disaster services. When I was in NC and was going through chemo the first time, I got a huge backlog of paperwork there caught up because my doctor said I couldn't work. He didn't tell me I had to stay at home so I went and volunteered. I am going through chemo again (7+ years later) and I will do the same thing again, albeit in a different state.

I think both are equally important. You need a good salary for paying all the bills for maintaining your family and need an interesting work for satisfaction of your mind. So both are complementary to each other.

liv__fc I always opted for interesting work as its horrid when you absolutely hate your job no matter how well it pays and in the long run if the high paying job makes you ill all you rich money goes to pay a doctor or shrink when y ou could be doing something you like. I liked being a nurse's aide and really loved the job.I liked helping people and was good at my work too.

If there is an option for having a big salary and at the same time it is an interesting work then I'll choose that kind of work. But if there are only two choices? I will choose the one with the big salary. You know I am married and I need money for our survival so the more the money is then it's better. But let's say there is only a small difference of the salary, then I'll choose the enjoyable one.

To be practically speaking, most of the people who are sent of to college is either being forced by parents or they're seeking for a better future, meaning, a bigger salary. As for me, I go to the work that I'm interested on, currently I'm taking up computer studies because I love what I do and I get challenged by it too. It's interesting and I'm happy with it.

I think interest in work is the biggest and the important thing. Because if you have a huge salary but hate that work, it's more of a torture than a work. But if you love what you're doing, it won't even be a work, morelike something you enjoy doing and earn money at the same time too. So there's pleasure and money at the same time

the perfect situation is both..now i am in a bored project (i'm consultant IT) and my salary is poor..but last year i have a better project with the same salary. When i get a good salary i can respond totally to your question, but i think that deppends the person and the situation. For me is important make also that it like, but nowadays it's important too a good salary..

I'll go with the job that triggers my interest. Whether it pays less or more, I will enjoy doing my job if it is my interest. I don't have to force myself to do it. If i do my job full of enthusiasm , i know i will make it big time someday even if it pays less in the start.

Interesting work!! definitely interesting work come first... let say idealistic, get big money and interesting job in the same time, everybody want that... but, in reality, most people I know, they take big salary work though it is not interesting, for some reasons but the "needs".
Me...? I decided to keep my big money job for my regular income no matter it is interesting or not, and still doing my hobby in the same time... sometimes we cannot have it all.. either way..

I also prefer interesting work since it is much better for me. I ever tried working in a job that gives big salary but ended-up feeling bored and unable to work for long. At last, i still prefer my interesting old job which don't really gives me big salary.

Interesting work or big salary in my opinion depending on personality of each person. There are people who love with big salary, even with overload jobs and he didn't like with that works and not feel comfortable with that. Other side, there are people who love interesting work although with little salary, but he feel comfort and always enjoy with his work. I prefer interesting work than big salary.

right now, I want to be practical. I would want a job that is having a big salary. It would become an interesting work for me since the salary is my ispiration. If the job i would want to have is interesting but with a small salary, I will not be happy still.

And nine things are quite interesting.Interesting work you ensure a varied life and something you like. But while bigger salary means that you will have more money to spend go not to worry.
It is best if you can combine those two things.
But I definitely would have preferred higher wage because I constantly need money.
Have a nice day friend.

The most important is INTEREST. It is because, when you are interested on a certain object or deed or topic, you will enjoy doing it or learning more about it. Then, if you are interested, you will improve and grow on that certain topic. With your growth, you can be more efficient and thus, produce more output, which can lead to a big salary.
