Which one do you prefer to say? I can do anything for you or I can do everything for you?
Actually somehow I tend to divide things into positive and negative too much and to me saying "I can do anything for you" is a bit negative. It carries a sense of paying for something which you don't want to part away with while "I can do everything for you" give the feeling of doing whatever is required and actually loving it.
I don't know...does these little things make a difference to you? Do you think on them? Do you have something similar...

i'd prefer to say, i can do anything for you....
i'm afraid that i could let someone down when i'd say that i can do everything for someone, in my opinion, it is a bit exaggerated in the sense that i can't know for sure what are the things necessary for someone, for i believe that anyone can't say everything they need, i believe that pleasing someone or helping them would require a lot of things, and most of them are not easily said but much appreciated if it is seen through actions, one thing i'm sure is that when the time has come that someone would really need my help i'd be most willing to sacrifice anything just to accomplish that request.. when i would say "i can do anything for you" to someone, i'd take it as a promise that i would try my best not to break it and most importantly, to really accomplish it..
for me to say doing everything for someone is a bit scary because i am a type of person that would really expect a lot if someone would say these words to me, if anything goes wrong and i did not accomplish everything, i would be very upset and i know for sure, that someone would be sad also..
i'd rather accomplish that "anything" even if i had to sacrifice everything than risking the task of accomplishing everything and end up losing that someone and be sorry not just with myself but most importantly, risking the trust of an important person in my life..

Nice to know that there are people who are so dedicated to relations and want to do so much for those important to them. By the way, even "anything" may include something that you can't accomplish no matter what!

i'd also agree, that "anything" may not be accomplished as well but in my opinion, there is a better chance for me to really do everything to accomplish that anything, sound confusing, right? hehe.. but it is the way i am, actually, i'm in this kind of situation right now, i can do anything for that someone but i don't want to do everything, i just can't, it may seem that i am selfish, but what i want to stress out is that i am willing to sacrifice if that someone would tell me to do so..c",) thank you for the wonderful topic..

Thank you for taking part in it...
Yes indeed, the repetitive use of anything and everything was a bit overwhelming but it clearly shows that you are ready to give your all for someone. God that someone is really a lucky one.

I guess for me, it would have to be Can I do anything for you? There is no way I could state to anyone and mean it that I can do everything for you, as even if I would want too there is limits to some of the things I can do, and it would feel quite awkward being expected to be able to do something that is beyond my limits and capabilities. There are times no matter how hard I want to help someone, or they want me to help them I have to say No, and hope they will understand why.

hi neither one raj__gupta I would rather say I can help you as thats specific not just pie in the sky stuff but solid and doable. I do not ever lead people on that I am unlimited in what I could do for someone
'else,. I know I am not superewoman and I never promise to do something'
I know darned well I well be unable to do.My mom used to say when I asked for something well we will see about it which In my childsh mind
came to mean I cannot do that as thats what always happened. I swore I would never do that to my own children as I preferred a yes or no answer to their demands. that way they really knew whether or not I would do it.Also I always kept my promise as I did not promise what I was not sure I could fulfill.

Hi.
Well you may call me Raj...
Sounds thoughts, I must say. There again it is more to do with whether there is something that gives you a negative feel and something else that very mush means the same but because it sounds different, it feel much more positive rather then keeping or not keeping promises. By the way...your kids are going to be really blessed to have you in their life.

I would prefer to say-I can do everything for you.I come along your thoughts that "i can do anything for you " is a little negative. But on the other hand if one says "i can do everythoing for you",its like he would go to any extreme to be everyting for that person. He would be doing everything possible in his hands to satisfy that persons need. This is how I consider.PEople versions may differ, but the basic fact is that in both the cases that person is loved so much.
