I have a 2 year old gypsy cob cross and i was wondering when i should start training him for light carting? Or at least getting him ready to break into carting?

I have never had a gypsy cob cross, but we do have horses that pull wagons and carts. I think that at two you can start to do some ground work with it and possibly even hook it to the cart. I prefer to not have them do much heavy work until they are three, but I know many who train them at 2.
We have a colt that is almost a year old and I will be starting to do a lot of ground work with her this summer. I am hoping to show with her next year and I think since she is a medicine hat paint, she will do well in the show ring!

Thankyou, i have heard of people breaking them in young, but have also heard about the damage it can do to their joints and back. Mine has only just turned 2 years old but he is extremely lively and it seems as though he is getting incredibly bored and when he see's me he gets extremely rough with me. Therefore i thought about starting to break him to cart rather than start already breaking him to ride as he really is to young to be backed.
