Even though human rights group protesting at the Capitol hill in Atlanta, and many minority groups decry the unlawful new signed bill of HB 87, this summer, started from July 1st, all illegal immigrants within Georgia, should be make it illegal for all employers to hire those undocumented workers. The police would investigate those businesses, especially restaurants, and super markets. This might cause a lot of worries, especially for agricultural part of Georgia. They might short labors. Do you think such law taking effect would deeply affect the economy locally?

Good for Georgia. Every other state needs to do this as well. If someone is in this country illegally then they don't need to be here, period. No business whether it's agricultural or not should be hiring illegal aliens. Give those jobs to Americans first if they'll take them and I'm sure there are plenty who will with the unemployment rate as high as it is. Then give what's left to the aliens but only when they have the proper documentation and are here on a work visa. Too many illegals live here indefinitely as if they were American citizens. They should in no way have the same benefits we as Americans have.

I don't think it will lead to a shortage of agricultural labor....it will just make sure that labor goes to citizens of this country. In an age where 9% unemployment has become the norm, there should be no such thing as "jobs Americans won't do"

I think the illegal aliens are already breaking our laws. I think those who knowingly hire them are also breaking are laws. Those who protest laws like this are basically saying that we should ignore criminal activity when it is done by certain races... which, of course, is racist.

I think it's a fantastic idea. I also think that kids of illegals should be turned away from school unless the parents can pay for their education. What else can we do? One state says they want to escort illegals to their border. If every state did that, we could direct them all to Washington DC and let Congress deal with them....since they love illegals so much.

HB87...A BILL to be entitled an Act to enact the "Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011"; to amend the O.C.G.A., so as to provide for definitions; to provide for a private cause of action; to require private employers to use an employment eligibility verification system and provide for civil penalties; to provide for offenses; to provide for the investigation of illegal alien status; to provide authority for law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration laws and to provide immunity; to provide for civil and criminal penalties; to modify provisions relating to training peace officers; to establish grant funding; to provide for the verification of the immigration status of foreign nationals; to provide that counties shall receive additional funding for confinement of state inmates; to require proof that private businesses are participating in the employment eligibility verification system; to provide for identification cards; to enact the "Secure and Verifiable Identity Document Act"; to provide for related matters; and for other purposes. I think South Carolina passed the"employment eligibility verification system" law last year & there have been NO serious repercussions reported on their news. Of course, that doesn't mean it hasn't been a problem...just that it hasn't been reported on the news!!! Undocumented workers would still be allowed to work in the fields...they just won't be allowed to work in businesses. So, it is possible that this could increase the number of workers for the agricultural part of Georgia.
