allknowing, i have experienced being first on a discussion and having another 12/13 responses below mine and everyone was answered except mine! that had me a mixture of anger and sadness. needless to say when i see her discussions i do not even bother to read them.
i have also experienced people that have ignored mine and others, only replying to high ranking replies and blue stars.
so i do ignore a lot of people as i find this attitude very arrogant and rude.
i try to answer every response but the last 2 days have been hard as i do not have a pc. i am currently on my sons' girlfriends laptop.

I sat all night waiting for your response and dozed off in front of the pc and suddenly when I opened my eyes there was a notification informing me that there was a response from you and so here I am rushing to put my comments. But wait a minute in my topic I dont think I have specified a time limit!
Coming to your pathetic story I too go through this when my responses are ignored but have learnt to take this in my stride. It did make me feel better though that others too are sailing in the same boat!

Hi allknowing,
While I understand that many have their preference as to how to comment on their discussions and or perhaps time constraints; I can only answer what I prefer. Since I do not start very many I am always so appreciative for all the responses I get and do comment back to each response. If anything is not understandable I do like GG above and ask for clarification, if a response is negative I always let them know that I appreciative their honest feedback and then add the reasons why I think otherwise, often times that adds for furthering because most times the member will come back and further extent his/her original response.
There have been many times that I have gone back and forth with a what appeared to be opposing response and have found that after re-reading their response it allowed me to think in a different light.
I do have pick and choose as to who because that in my mind would be unfair, to the gracious members who took the time to respond to my discussion.
Therefore I respond to everyone and have never picked and chosen.

I am sure hwg you sleep well after the day is done and that is how it should be. I have seen you painstakingly responding to everyone and each response having a different flavour!

I may not do it all at one time, but,i do respond to all or most of my comments.
I feel if someone took the time to respond to my discussion, it's only fair i comment back.
Plus,i will not respond to any discussion, where the OP hasn't responded to any of his/her posts since i feel they're satisfied with just posting a discussion and don't care whether they received any responses, so why should i bother commenting.

The benefit of commenting on responses is two fold. It increases ones earnings and it becomes a discussion and this site is all about discussions.

Hehe! I think that is a very good policy, allknowing. If you only answer one or two people then everybody else who responded gets upset. I try to do the same as you and respond to all or none. Though it is difficult sometimes. Especially when there are a lot of comments and you only want to reply to one or two of them.
cheers
Paul

This is a frequent occurrence here. Actually there is benefit if responses are commented on which some users fail to realise. Also when responses are commented on the responder gets the feeling that the response is acknowledged.

One needs to be active here and it is only when one participates that one earns and commenting is participation.

I am new to My Lot and am trying to learn. This topic seems very interesting. What benefits are there to someone else responding to a comment as I have yours?
Thanks for the help!

Not sure I understand. I don't think it's possible to answer all the posts. We all have limited time and some topics are more interesting to us than others, so we have more to say about them. Are you saying we need to answer all the comments?

I am talking about commenting on responses received to topics created by you.

I think in deference to the needs discussed in addressing them appropriately. However, we must be polite and courteous.I personally respect the opinions of all and when I create a discussion trying to understand them and answer them.I think that should answer the discussion.Have a nice day!

It is only when responses are commented upon that it becomes a discussion and that is what this site is all about.

I comment on all that I can. Once in a while I can not answer someone. It is usually if I cannot quite get what has been meant by a comment. Then I just might ask for a clarification. I do not have favorites and try not to leave people out.

Hi allknowing,
I felt hurt many times due to this habit of some members. I will treat everybody equally and do comment to all. I may give comment lately but no discrimination at all. If somebody avoids me without the comment then surely I will avoid their topics for sometime. Here I am defending my own from further hurts. Somebody explained me ‘not getting enough time to comment to all’ then what is the need of starting so many topics in one day.

This is a discussion site and to further a discussion it is vital that responses are commented on but being selective does as you say can hurt. I don't crave for massive responses and am satisfied with the few I receive so that I do justice to all the responses I receive.

hi all knowing I think still the best answer is to make some sort of comment to all of us as we did you the honor of responding to you ehen we had many discussions to choose from. the way I look at it I owe all my friends a comment even if it takes a few minutes more.t he moral to the story is wait til you do have time and make a comment to all who bothered to respond to you.;this is the fairest way to do it, ots not like college where we are graded and some are not as good as others, we are here to share and to enjoy and make a little money too. shy not be fair about commenting? i for one will write people off who always refuse to comment on my responses as I have a lot more friends than I can handle anyway and I tend to share with those who share with me.it is not like we are going to be graded on the comments we make its like we should enjoy being here and having fun with friends.

Commenting does increase ones earnings and despite knowing this some are selective in commenting. And when that happens it does leave a bad taste for those whose responses are ignored. Just a thought.

Well, as respect and acknowledgment to those who responded to our posts we should comment back. That way you build a good impression on them, that you like to know their opinions too.
Commenting back to responses also helps in building friendships with fellow mylotters.

Hi allknowing!
Hey man, do not take it too seriously! There are so many reasons why some users fail to comment on your response. Do not take it too personally. For me, there were some comments which I failed to reply because of time constraints, while, some left me with nothing to say, except, "thank you".

hotlegs - It is an observation and nothing to do with me per se. I have noticed that some users selectively leave comments.
