I've read this from the news on net. The woman was sent out of the train because she's a loud cell-phone talker and talked for about 16 hours, non-stop!whoa, that's really a lot of talking
Other passengers got irritated and ask her to stop but she refused and got angry so they sought the assistance of policemen. The woman will be charge with "Disorderly Conduct"....Have anyone of you encountered a person like her before?

Seems some people can't find the manners when in public. Can you provide the link? I wanna read the whole article.

Yeah people should really be considerate. I'm not saying to go around letting others push you around and be quiet all the time, but to talk loudly NONSTOP just gives everyone a headache and causes a disturbance. This lady might have been overkilled by getting arrested for disorderly conduct but it was a good wake up call to her and maybe she'll be more quiet, or learn to text.

I opened your link and read the story, It was outrageous. Talking for 16 hours.. weeh! don't she ever feel exhausted. Anyhow, I often ride with a stranger who talk on the phone loudly but the maximum talking time they did is around 30 minutes and not more than that.

I used to commute by train quite a long distance to and from work, and it drove me and lots of other passengers mad, how a fair portion of them would spend the whole journey shouting into their mobile phones, disturbing the peace of everybody else. Since I now don't do that journey, my stress levels have dropped enormously.

Hi whengcat
Wow 16 hours, even me who is a chatterbox offline, I can't imagine me talking loud and non-stop for an hour even.
Wonder how she kept her phone charged for so long,
Note I am chuckling with this and it appears to be a serious matter. Gosh that is certainly rude and inconsiderate that anyone would annoy in this manner. I can understand a loud speaker not realizing they are loud but gee after 16 hours would that not have burned her own ears.
I have encountered people speaking way too loud in public places that it was very annoying and irritating. I was actually getting a headache with this one, and no matter how many times several others and myself stared with the hopes the person would speak softer and or stop, nothing worked. The person was actually asked to shhh a bit, nothing. So I had to go outside because I was getting irritated. I would have left the place but I was waiting for the doctor appointment I was waiting so long to get, so I told the receptionist that I would be outside and when I was called to please come get me.

Actually, I'm kind'a "living with it" in here while minding my sister-in-law's computer rentals. When the players got so excited on their online games, they tend to shout and sometimes even curse their opponent. Its not like that all the time but its really annoying

People like that are extremely annoying. I hate when people are overly, and unnecessarily loud on their phones without noticing how annoyed the other people are getting. And for 16 hours, that is just unheard of. Where were you going if a train took 16 hours to get there? Disorderly conduct is kind of extreme for this type of situation but I think she deserved it as a wake up call.

At first, I thought that it's quite normal for some to be doing that, however, when you said that she'd been talking loudly for the last 16hours I was wondering where that train is going that could reach 16hours!?
Anyhow, I don't really blame people for talking loudly because there are those with problems of hearing, they tend to talk loudly. However, I guess there are also those who just don't have manners and can't see that what they're doing is actually bothering other people - I guess that woman is the latter. She doesn't care what other people would think, therefore, it was right of them to throw her out!

The report said that the train ride was from Oakland, California going to Salem, Oregon and maybe that is a 16 hours ride. Yeah, that's a lot of talking that's why it amazed me. Maybe she took time to eat in between talking, if not, then she's really one of a kind

That's quite awful. Just imagine the suffering of the other passengers who couldn't help overhearing her conversation over the phone even though it's rude to listen to other people's conversation. But what you've just shared to us is really a worst case scenario, something I don't want to be a part of. But really? 16 hours? I think the best that she could have done is just not take the train and talk to the people she's better off talking personally than over the phone.
Fortunately, I haven't encountered such a person in any public utility vehicle I've been in. It's good that the woman was reprimanded by the police so that she won't be doing the same mistake again when she's aboard a train.

This kind of person annoy me as well. I don't know why they talk so loudly. Most of the time I read a book or a magazine whenever I ride a train or bus. This type of person distracts me so much. Even if I'm not reading anything, whenever I encounter this kind of person it would really annoy me. I'm not sure what is so hard in taking the tone/volume of her voice like 2 or 3 notches.
