We have a computer at home and my younger brother always uses our computer. He is just 10 and I made a Facebook account for him just for games. I monitor him when he's using FB.
The past days, he had stayed at my cousins' house who were also as young as him. My little cousins apparently had their own laptop that they use without adult guidance. My brother logged in his account using that computer and accepted a friend request of a person we do not know. The person's pic was a lady wearing only a small bra and captured up to the waist.
My brother, out of curiosity, accepted the friend request. In his account, he appears as 23 years old. He has no pictures in his FB account aside from his profile pic with three girl friends. The "lady" had a chat w/ him and inviting him to see her.
According to my brother, he said he was just a kid and the girl said oh and they chat more. I don't know any other details. But after he came back home and told me this, I immediately opened his Facebook and look for this lady's profile and investigated. I noticed all of her friends are people whose pictures are near to nude. I blocked the person from my brother's FB.
I think it's really dangerous for young children to be involve in these sites without adult guidance. What do you think guys? What can you suggest to further protect young kids from FB hazards? I think the lady was some kind of a gang member maybe looking for victims by seducing them. What do you think guys?

Hi Banny,
Guidance is necessary on the net. Like any net it could lure and capture any unwary victim to its demise. Lots of of scams abounds here like dangers lurking in every corner of the jungle, be it city or in the mountains.
I always remember to be on the lookout for anything unusual on the net to avoid falling prey to the glistening webs of deceit it weaves.

I would report her to FB asap! She might be a child predator for all you know. I am glad you monitor your brother's account. There are so many crazy people out there nowadays. This is a cold, hard world we live in now.

You betcha! Predators are lurking everywhere, even in the comfort of our own homes! Internet provides us with different kinds of opportunities and dangers alike. It is but fitting to be vigilant always, especially if we have kids to look out for.
Our world is a scary world, especially because there are a number of individuals who are always on "alert mode" to jump on unsuspecting victims. You are right about supervising minors when using FB. I've encountered few FB hazards myself.
Being young as our kids are, their minds are still easily corruptible. Heck, I am still prone to be tempted..mature as I am, much more them.

I too, have recieved one of these friend requests. You can change the security setting on the account so other people cannot see your account information without accepting the friend request first. Here is a rule of thumb. If you don't know them, ignore them. You can't go wrong if you do that. My guess is that this "lady" is not a lady. You can also delete the account and make a new one if this continues to be a problem. 10 is a little young for a facebook account.
