Pressure of too much work or no work! Which one you like!?

Being a freelancer, I am always under pressure at times of too much work and at others of no work!
I like fighting against deadlines more then sitting idle and hopping for some one to accept my proposal and/or bid for some project.
Though pressure is not good for health anyway, but still, to me pressure of work is much more desirable then of no work. At least this way I have money to spend when I am free...
What's your take on the pressure of work or of no work?

I would rather be too busy. I'm not the idle type of person. It drives me crazy when the computer at work goes down. My job revolves solely around the computer. So when it goes down so do we. It't not a whole lot of fun to sit there for hours on end with nothing to do. I hope your freelance job is doing well. I tried that and no one ever accepted my proposals. I guess they missed out on a hardworking, motivated individual. Best Wishes!

Its kind of okay at times and not enough for me right now in freelancing. I wonder Freelancing world's loss has been gain for your employer. By the way, where you tried getting projects from? Best wishes to you too...

Hmmm...
To be truthful, I myself has not been that successful on sites where we have to bid on projects but some webmaster forums have been good to me. If you are interested I can tell you one.

If the only time i receive money is when i work, definitely, i will choose to be pressured by work. But if you receive passive income, i guess being idle from time to time doesn't matter at all. That's the reason I am actively building my downline in the MLM company i member in. I am hoping someday i'll get enough passive income from my downlines to sustain my lifestyle.

My own experience with MLM venture has not been good. Not a good enough seller I guess! Anyways, hope you have good time with your business and reap good returns in the end.

its different for each individual anyway. some people are good to some things, others are good to other things. let's just improve our weak points and excel in what we're good at. Happy earning my friend.

I will take on the pressure work, because the proper pressure can motivate me to succeed, but the the body is the captial of revolution,if the busy work is our living needed,we must take it,meanwhile we have to take care of our body, get some time off from work and take some exercise or make delicious food for youself,it also can relive the presure, what do you think?

Can't agree with you more. Giving yourself some reward for achieving small goals every now and then can help you immensely in working under pressure and keep doing if for a long time successfully.
Have a nice day.

As a free lancer when you are under pressure you know you are going to be rewarded more. I am also like that one. I am a freelancer and I enjoy doing work, work and more work. At the same time it should not be too much pressure. If u can take 10 pounds weight you must attempt for 12 pounds and not 15 pounds weight.
have a good ay

Yup...we all are striving for a balance of work. So, what are your fields when it comes to freelancing and how is it going for you?

I do teaching aptitude, soft skills in engineering college while staying in Chennai. I also spend time in www.ammas.com another question/answer website. I do write for competitive examinations. I allocate time for the last two after giving importance for the first one - teaching - because you get paid well per day.
Now while staying in USA I spend time on internet for browsing and watching movies. that is all. have a good day

I'd rather be pressured of too much work than no work at all. It is like choosing between being productive or unproductive at all. I have been used to tight schedules, beating deadlines and other kinds of work pressures. Sometimes, it is just a matter of time management and delegation of work to other people. If the cause of pressure is work which is the source of my bread and butter, why not? After all, if i don't have work, i would be on job search to find work which may or may not pressure me .

If it comes down to earning bread and butter situation then definitely too much work is good but even if you are over it and going for a lifestyle, working rather then looking for work is better.

Yes, you are right raj_gupta. It's better to be pressured by our work than no work at all, because if there is no work, more problems would set in, such as, where to get the next meal, where to source for childrens' schooling, weekly marketing, and other daily expenses. There would be more stress, tension and other related problems that would crop up as a result of no work. The worse thing to happen is, when one is stressed or tensed because of no work, he or she is predisposed to illness. So, where to get now the money for hospitalization or doctor's fees?

I prefer being pressured because you can be more productive to the society if being pressured. Also, being pressured forces you to learn new things which is a benefit on your part. :)

Yes indeed. Our efficiency goes up multiple times when we are in crunch situation. Though I am not sure that pressure situation is the ideal one to learn something new, it surely makes you more efficient in what you already know.

Exactly my point! When you are in a crunch situation you try to evade it or get out of it as soon as possible. You are desperate and that can't be the right time to learn something! You will try any way possible, not the right one, to get your task done...

yes. but there are some cases that you still don't know everything about your work. So, you really need to learn these things no matter what. :)

i'd rather be busy than being idle. working under pressure stimulates your brain and makes it sharp while earning at the same time. but we should also take time to rest and relax to recharge.

Honestly raj_gupta, both are pressure for me. I would initially say i would be happy if i dont get work at all. But I realized it same when i was to go a week without work and got so bored thats giving me stress as well. So if it is balanced with limited work, i feel i will be pressure free.

That is an ideal condition that you are referring to...balanced amount of work. It is about selecting less worst thing out of two bad things.
By the way, you may call me Raj.

Pressure of too much work is what will I choose because I have experienced of pressure of no work because you are worrying too much of what will happen. I mean right now I still have no work and applying to a companies but I lack competence. Sometimes people around you will pressure you to have work already just because of your age.

The situation you are in is definitely undesirable. I can relate to it. To be truthful, I choose freelancing because I want to decide by my own self that when I work and when I don't. In doing this the hard part comes when people around you start sounding like you are no-one as you are not working! Also, an empty mind is a devil's yard, so yes...pressure of work is good.

I personally like neither pressure of too much work nor no work, rather I believe in a balance between the two. But if I am to compare between the two, I would definitely prefer pressure of too much work to no work because I also believe that an idle brain is a devil's workshop.

I feel I do a lot of productive work only under pressure. It helps me manage time in a very good manner and doesn't leave me idle. When I'm idle, I think and worry of unnecessary things or waste a lot of time doing nothing. Thus, I perform my best only when I'm under pressure !

I would like to say here that while you are idle, horn your skills by doing that you will be more productive at all times.

I prefer to have too much work. When I was working in the home health care team I experienced both kinds of situations. Most of the time I had too much work and I was really busy all day long, because I had lots of patients to visit, and I often had to rush from place to place. When I was really busy I sometimes wished that I were able to relax a bit and a be less busy, but when I actually experienced that situation I didn't enjoy it. I was bored and I didn't like to sit around and do nothing, so if I had to choose I would prefer to have lots of work.

Health and care is one domain for which I wish all the working people sit idle all the time! Because that will mean everyone is healthy...
And now when you are not in it, I wish you have your fair share of work. Cheers

Everything has consequences, as I thought. I've always wanted to do freelance jobs with regards to 3d graphics both stills and animations, whatever is available. I already have a day job but I don't have any deadlines whatsoever. Having a freelance job would only mean I'll be earning extra for emergency.

Usually don't hear from people who have some specific skill that they never got a project! If you don't mind...I may be able to help you get some work, that is if you are still looking for it...
Let me know what you think and also if I can have a look at your work, that will be great.

It's nice to know you think that way.
With me, I've proven several times that I'm more happier when I have to do a lot at work. Yes, it's pressuring but also rewarding especially if you did the right thing and you are able to get over the obstacles of the job. If I don't have anything to do, I'm stressed out thinking of things that I can do. Also, I don't feel good .

I like being pressured of work because I know I am doing something productive and when I am done I felt relieve and fulfilled rather that pressured of no work because I never done anything and it is more unhealthy to me.
