What do you feel when people congratulate you via facebook wall?

Currently it is now very easy to congratulate people via facebook wall. Especially to congratulate them for their birthday. Since facebook has a birthday reminder, that make even people who don't know you very well giving you congratulation for your birthday.
The question is, what do you feel when people congratulate you via facebook wall? For me, it is feel really less special. Before facebook exist, there are less people who congratulate me when i am having a birthday, but at that time, i really feel special because i feel they actually care. I feel that they take the effort to remembering my birthday and they actually giving text message, a call, or even meet me simply for congratulate me. But now, almost every friend that you have in facebook congratulate you. The one who usually giving text message and call, never do that anymore ( but only a few still do ). Now only a few actually take the effort to met me, and they are usually only close friend.
Anyway, what do you feel about this? Please share us your view

Well, i see, do you feel any different getting a direct congratulation from the real person and the one from the facebook wall? Being birthday and all will surely give you a lot of page hit in your facebook wall, it sure bring attention. Thanks for your reply in this discussion.

I think that anything sent via facebook automatically has less heart than something sent via mail. I'd prefer a birthday card over a "Happy Birthday" post on my facebook any day. But still, I'd really prefer someone take the time to meet me and tell me happy birthday rather than getting a card. I feel like with Facebook, nobody does anything special for someone's birthday anymore. They'll just get some heartless "Happy B-day" on their wall.

Well yes, i agree with you, it is rally felt less special than a card, a phone call, and especially from meeting the person. I also really like what you said, "They'll just get some heartless "Happy B-day" on their wall" . It is a very good way to put it i think. THanks for your reply here friend.

I dont think it is really personal if someone wishes you a happy birthday or any other congratulations through the facebook because they see other people doing it and they just want to join the crowd and send there congratulations. It is more person and special to me if they call so that I can hear there voice. I like facebook but some things should be done in person or on the phone and not on a computer.

Well yes, that exactly what i mean. Giving congratulation via facebook it's very easy. Some time, for now a very close friend, i simply copy paste a friend congratulation and paste it in his / her facebook wall. It take me less than 5 second to do that. It feel not personal at all.

Oh good for you. Since you have a lot of friend abroad, that means facebook really help you a lot. Since it will be very expensive to communicate with friend abroad than communicate with friend that are locate in the same country. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thought in this discussion.

your viewpoint about this Facebook birthday congrats reminds me about close friends who used to call and even meet me personally just to say happy birthday. now, it's true that they never did it again since we all have Facebook.
but, generally i feel happier seeing friends (my close friends, included) using Facebook to say happy birthday to me. i feel happier because now I and those close friends all keep contact through Facebook. we comment status updates, pictures, videos, send ridiculous jokes, news, almost everything on Facebook. furthermore, now we live in different parts of the world. so, Facebook really helps us a lot in personal communications. we enjoy it and even feel much closer through Facebook. maybe i will never have personal birthday phone call anymore from my close friends, but actually i already feel that i receive better attention from them through their comments on most things i post on Facebook.

Well yes, it is feels okay and it still feel good. Getting congratulation from friend will always make us feel good and special. But i think with a little effort we can make people feel more special in a way of saying congratulation. Thanks for your respond in this discussion.

Oh i see, well it seems you are really busy now seeing you don't do anything to your facebook. You block the message, but do you block the wall massage or status comment? Because if you do that, it will be hard for other people to contact you. Anyway, thanks for your reply my friend.

Well yes, it is kinda like that. Because at the old days, people actually remembering my birthday. Although the amount of people is not that much, but i do appreciate it. But now, even the unknown friend will know your birthday, and it is kinda sad because we don't know people who actually remembering our birthday in their memory. Thanks.

for me it feels so overwhelming when somebody congratulates me on Facebook because not only you whose going to read it but the whole people that are in your friend list. it does only means to say that people noticed you in your achievement that day or your just simply noticeable..:)

Well yes, people will notice our birthday that way. Many people will notice and realize that today is your birthday, and they will congratulate you. But that's all, it really feel less special. But off course, it still a good thing when poeple give you happy birthday, no matter what.

Indeed it will be overwhelming for me if somebody come to congratulate me in my Facebook wall. It feels so good and i will be glad for that since that person spends time to write on my own wall.
God bless us all.
