Would it be a temptation to have a fast food place right next door to your home?

I think for a lot of people, one of the worst things that could happen to them(both health wise and money wise), would be to have a fast food place, like McDonalds or Burger King so close to your house, that you could walk next door and get some of the fried, greasy, artery clogging, heart stopping goodness whenever you want. A lot of people can't help themselves to begin with, regards to fast food, which is fine, in moderation. The thing is, moderation is something not observed by the masses. So putting a fast food place next door, that is just something that would be a temptation to a lot of people. I would like to think I would have self control but you just never know.

Actually, I do have a McDonalds very close to me. Walking distance in fact and I pass right by it on my way home from work everyday. Even then, I only stop in there a couple of times a month. I just make it a point not to indulge too often. I try to eat a little more healthy most of the time. It really doesn't tempt me that much either, surprisingly enough.
Actually, for me anyway, I would get tired of eating from the same restaurant too often. I like variety and I would get sick of eating the same food all the time. Maybe that's why I don't stop in there more than I do. I have to be in the mood for it. That and the fact that while I like McDonalds, it's not really my favorite fast food.
Now, if it was a donut shop...

There is always times where if we eat too much, it is going to get too much. In fact, if we eat too much of a healthy food that we enjoy, it is really going to have the same effect. We are really going to really to never want to eat that food again. Or at least for a very long time. There are fast food places that are a nice walk from my place. If it was put closer, I think that it might be interesting, and I'm sure many people in my neighborhood would break into celebration. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I wouldn't want a fast food joint next to my home even if the smells were under control or I could control my own appetite simply because a place such a that would attract a lot of consumers and my privacy would be lost and security would be a nightmare to have and manage. Strangers would come and go in my vicinity, besides, a retail business attracts robberies and burglaries sometimes.
I would rather live in a neighborhood that had residences close by, not businesses.

You know that's a point that hasn't been brought up yet, but its truly. It would attract a lot of people and a lot of them would be loud, annoying and obnoxious. I actually went by one of the closest fast food restraurants the other day at peak hours and it looked and sounded like a madhouse. Day after day, that would get annoying rather quickly. So that is really a consideration and I thank you for bringing that up. I would never get a moment's peace and that would be annoying to a lot of people. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Hi. megamatt. Yes, that would be very tempting. I know that I will have to train myself so that I don't become obsessed with eating from a fast food restaurant when I feel like it. I don't eat fast food everyday anyway, so I hope that I won't become so addicted once a fast food restaurant is right next door to my home.

For a lot of people it wouldn't be a good thing. In fact, it would really be a bad thing. Hopefully there are going to be people who are going to be able to control their impulses if it did get put nearby. Unfortunately, there are going to be people who are unable to control themselves. There will be people who will get tired of it, but the damage might be done before that point. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I have a burger king and McDonalds within walking distance of my home.
Maybe once a month I have a regular cheeseburger at McD's However when I have appt.s, grocery shopping, errands to do I will stop by and grab their 1.00 sweet tea as it is big and lasts me the whole time while I am out.
Burger King is across the street from our Navy Base. I go over there about once a week. they have a 1.00 cheeseburger with bacon on it so I do grab one with a tea or white soda to go sit out by the bay on the base.
Maybe twice a year I have a big Mac attack and will enjoy one of those. But I never get fries or other stuff with it.
At the end of our street is Taco Bell. When I remember which is not often I will go get a chicken Quesadilla, with a side order of rice or refried beans.
My outings for food generally are for chinese food. Lots of veggies and a better health choice I think

I think that it would be for a lot of people. Then again, it can quickly turn ugly, as a little bit of Heaven can really last all of eternity and people tend to get rather greedy all things considered. There are a lot of times where they are not going to be able to really control those destructive impulses but its something that really does have to be done. For the sake of everyone that is involved. There are times where a few times a year and its all good. Its something that would make you more fond of the fast food process regardless.
Sadly, putting that kind of freedom and convenience next to a lot of people, they really cannot handle it. Granted its their lives, their choices. I just hope that they won't be blaming anyone but themselves on the consequences that they have to deal with later on in life. That is really what its all down to. Choice and enacting your self control. On one hand, it would be convenient but on the other hand, is that not the problem? Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Hi there, I guess it would be tempting to eat in a fast food place right next to your home if you are sluggish to prepare food for your family or worse is if you do not know how to cook at all. fast foods are not healthy and it should not be consumed everyday. however, it is okay to treat yourself at times. maybe once a month will do... i have stopped eating fast food when i have acquired diabetes mellitus. eating fast food is a big no no for me... i would rather spend time preparing healthy foods in our kitchen than spend money on unhealthy meals that could get my situation worse.

I think that there are many people who would rather prepare food at home. If nothing else, because it saves money. However, there are just going to be a lot of people who don't really care. No really, there are a lot of people who will never care, no matter what. Whether its their physical health or their financial health, or perhaps it is a combination of both of these things.
Some people are best to be kept away from fast food places. Really when you think about it, that is a lot of things that people are addicted to that are not a problem as long as they stay away from them. Addiction is after all lack of self control and the less chance that a person has to indulge in it the better. Its just one of those things where we don't know how much self control we truly have but ideally we hope that its not a problem. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

It would be a new thing at first. I think that most people would really be tempted more during the first few weeks, month or two, but after a while, its just another part of the landscape. They just stop blinking. Then its just something that is really year. Some people might be hooked a little longer, some might get sick of it a little sooner. Still moderation is best for all. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

If i lived next door to fast food, i know the temptation would be overwhelming for me. i would probably be a frequent visitor and a lot of mieny and time would be spent there just because it was so convenient.

Yeah I think that it would be a temptation for a lot of people. Some people a small temptation, that they can really overcome after a time. A lot of people, really they are hooked anyway, so you just wonder if pushing such a thing really nearby is going to be the good thing for the mind of people. I think that at first, many people will be drawn in by the newness, and the convenience that something like this would offer to them.
After a while, the newness would fade oh so very slightly. There are going to be a lot of people who are going to get sickened out on eating fast food every day. Still I think that the temptation is going to be relevant for many people for a while. Some it might be a short while, others it is going to be a really long while, but there is going to be there. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

YEEEES!!!
I don't cook here in the city so I usually just buy from small restaurants(like a diner)...if there was a fastfood chain next door I'd probably be a regular customer, I do love french fries so much!!!!

Luckily for me I'm not addicted to this type of food that helps people get faster to their graves, and if there were such a store right in front of me when I went out of my block I'm sure I wouldn't enter it every day.Unfortunately, many people got used to these fast food places and ignore all the warnings they receive in the media, until one day they realize how wrong they were not to take into consideration all those warnings.I don't want to be like them,so I eat fast food very rarely.

Hmm... I wonder...
Nah. I think I'll do fine even if I have a fast food store next to my house. Mostly I will only go there in an emergency (that is, I have no food available at home), or if they have something new on the menu. I usually try food items only once or twice just to have a taste of it, and then that's it. =P

Well it would really be something that is good in a pinch to say the very least. If you don't have much food and its an emergency and you're hungry, you tend not to be rather not be picky. Therefore, I can really see how a lot of the food is something that is really good for a pinch, for an emergency, then again, any food is really something that is good.
I do admit that I only stop by fast food places only a few times a year. Its a nice brisk walk granted and I just wonder if my times would be doubled or more if it was a few feet away from my house. Then again, I'm sure my pockets would protest a lot of the time, so who really knows. Its one of those situation we can really theorize it all and all time. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Yep it's like having Satan himself live next door to you, hypnotizing you every hour "Come and eat our fooood. hahaha" You won't be able to resist that Big Mac and that juicy Whopper!
You will never prepare and cook food at your house ever again :)

It is really a temptation having fast foods around for me. Base on my experience way back college, there are lots of fast foods outside the dormitory where I used to stay. It's surely inviting especially if you just come from school, tired and hungry and lazy to cook for yourself. There is no week where I could pass by some pizza parlors and not getting in for a meal.

That is really the thing about some people. There are going to be a lot of people who will have to stop in on a fairly regular basis. Then there are a lot of people who won't really blink an eye. Then there are the cravings that we all tend to have and obviously it is just easy to swing in. It is good enough, in moderation to say the very least. Also obviously some of it is going to be just a bit more healthy than other food. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Yeah I think that if you ask a lot of people, if they put a place that they would frequent often rather close, that could be a problem for a lot of people. At least when it is new and close by. It will always be convenient to go by. Now after the first few trips, it could become less new and its just something that is there. Of course this point might take to a longer point than overs. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I believe it would be an issue for anyone without self control and or their liking for fast food. We do have so many right walking distance from me and rarely visit them, perhaps because we at home here are not much into fast food. I might add that there is a fast food not all close to me that on occasion I would not mind driving the distance to get to it simply because they have the best Italian Beef's that I have ever tasted, but I don't go often.
So in my opinion I think it is more about whether they prefer them or not, if they do then self control would be a definite issue. I do know a guy friend who does live within 1 block of a McDonald's and although he is a big eater, on just about anything. Home cooking and or fast food, there is not a day he does not stop in for McDonald's because he really loves it and being that it is so close he runs over daily.
I have also worked next door to a fast food and rarely entered there, although many of the employees ate lunch there daily and actually I do recall a few of them that actually concentrated on the clock hoping they would open for the day already. lol

That is really the nature of people. Self control is something that is becoming less and less these days. Of course, there is a lot of interesting points about self control not being something that was really around all that much to begin with. Its something that if a lot of people would cave in quickly to temptation, if the temptation was waved right in front of their face. A nearby fast food place could be this to a lot of people. Could be but not necessarily.
Well to be fair, in the work place, people will always look at the clock no matter what, but I can see them being frustrated, when there is a favorite fast food place is nearby. Still in the end, it is going to represent a bit of a problem for a lot of people being so close. Even moderately close for a lot of people, they are still going to find a way. Addiction is a strong thing. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Having money in your pocket and something to make you hungry, that is really a deadly combination for addiction. Yet it may in fact get old after a while. There are a lot of things that are new and shiny and really are something that is rather exciting. It is something that is going to really be a shock on my life each and every day, because its something that I have never dealt with and I'm sure many people do get that feeling.
Then after a few weeks of it being there, many of the people, it will get old and being sick of something, is a remarkable form of self control. Then again, there are a lot of people who really cannot be helped. That is really sad, but there is really much to do about nothing. Still those with money and those with a lack of self control, that can be a dangerous combination. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.
