What's one stupid thing you've done out of peer pressure?

LOL.
Not just one but plenty.
First, I shaved my head. Like really shaved it all for the rest of my second year second semester. It was a pain wearing a hat all the time because it's so hot and after that, I realized those "friends" weren't really good friends at all.
It was also a blessing in disguise because that was also the time wherein I met my bestfriends.
I understand in most teen movies, even in real life situations wherein one is forced to do drugs, drink a beer, ran in the campus naked or do a dare in which he/she doesn't really want to but for the sake of acceptance - one is forced to do it.
Just a topic that popped in my thoughts. I am sure you guys have stories to share, too.
And what are your points of view when it comes to peer pressure. How does one handle it? And how to avoid it?
Always be happy, Lotters! We are blessed. ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

Well, not one but many stupid things i have done in my life. From my recent memory one that i remember is the one when i asked my nephew who is a kid not to watch cartoons as will come at night and will haunt him. He really got frightened that day and could not sleep the whole night just in fear, then i thought of my stupidity. I really feel that we should never say things to kids just for fun as they are so innocent and take elders words seriously.

I understand. We adults have this superiority complex over kids so they follow us most of the time out of fear.

Hiya TD,
Can think of one in particular where I found myself talked into a situation when I was at Home and still single where I had to take the Day off Work a long Story but I had to pay the price for that too for doing someone a big favour.
Never did it again of course but I was pressured so much at the time but after that I never let it happen again as you could not get a Doctors Note just for one Day you see.
Landed myself in hot Water and did not get thanked for it even.
Never done any of the things you mention though but I have been in situations facing a lot of pressure from other People but I stood my ground all that came from this one incident. So something good came out of it after all don´t you think?

If only I could be just like you LAI21 (initials of your nick). Most of the time I yield to doing what others say just to have their acceptance. Which is really wrong and weak.
I admire you for being secured, lai.

Hiya TD,
Can´t say that I don´t feel swayed or inclined if you like by somethings that go on in my life but I did learn from that once never to be pushed or pulled in all directions again if I could help it.
You know just admitting that is the first step to pulling yourself out of those situations you can see what is happening to you and you don´t want that anymore that is my way of seeing it.
Don´t bash yourself up just because of that. Most of us are pulled in all directions for a few seconds at least every Day or maybe minutes but we get our balance back of who we are and we say yes or no.
I take time out a lot now and have done for a long time to calm down and notice what I really want and what I don´t want. Sort of sorting things out going on with me if you like.
None of us are perfect you know experiences show us sometimes and other times not. Life is very easy but very complicated at the same time.
Do I have bad days yes of course we all do I am pretty sure that you are very strong really you have to be strong to admit things and say I don´t want that.
If you don´t want to go through with situations that cause you anxiety then don´t being true to yourself is the first step it might take you ages to get out of the saying yes to those things but you will find a way out for sure.
Okay I don´t mean to play "Mom" here you will come out of that stage if you step back for a few minutes and ask yourself do I really want to go there or here or another place do I have to do this? Your own wisdom will tell you takes practice. Well that´s all I can think of.
Actually my username I don´t mind at all how People write it. After all it´s only a username nothing else.
Have a great Weekend TD take care.xxx

A friend gave me an "ink" tattoo. Luckily I didn't get sick off of it, then there was one time I drank some concotion not even sure what it was anymore but it had the matches in it if I remember correctly. Then I ate chalk, though they said it was ground up sweet tarts!
Anyway, what people will do to 'fit' in, and ya know most the time you find out they aren't such a great friend afterall.

In my younger days, peer pressure was not as great compared to the early 90s, where there are a lot of strange happenings, retro trends which seem to be the norm now. Being a girl back then, many of us actually had the mindset of cross dressing, act like a boy. It's considered an extreme way because we had to act, dress like a boy, falling for girls and snatching gfs away from their real bfs. It was real fun, and the torture has to be, binding our chest, in order to look convincingly real.

I couldn't agree more.
Even today, things that happened in early 90s is still here but it's much more aggressive. I can only shake my head for today's generation.
