Mommy D vs Miriam D

Philippines

It was supposed to be Manny Pacquiao vs Sen. Miriam Santiago. Instead, Mommy Dionisia got into the act, with a voice so loud, as if warning everybody "Leave my son alone!" Now Manny looks like a Mama's boy. It's not his fault though. In times like this, surely he doesn't expect his mom to just sit in the sidelines and watch people throw bad words at him. A mother's got to do what a mother's supposed to do. Here in the Philippines, there's always something interesting going on :)

Yes, this is an interesting thing, enough to make people forget that soon the school will open with tuition fees increased, high price of school supplies. Anyway, we love to laugh and laugh at our miseries., Very Pinoy indeeed!

Yes, It would agree it would be an interesting scene but it will also prove to be a distraction of the real issue - the RH bill. I think if a fight occurred between the mother and the senator, I would be watching it more enthusiastically than a Pacman fight. For the record, the lady senator said she was speechless and left no further comemnt on the issue. Personally, it was a good turn to play down the issue and focus on the real issue than affects more than two ladies.

Well on mom's side Mommy D has a natural act to defend her son. But i am not in favor of mom D when it comes to reaction in this topic and shouting of what she is believing in public. I think try to leave this case and fight to Manny and stay back also be quite. But i am not against mommy D!

A mother must know when to act, how to act, and definitely must be able to gauge if it is appropriate to defend one's child. I remember when my daughters turned formal school age, around 5 or 6 years, they told me not to come early to school early enough when I fetch them. That is because they do not want their new friends to think I was babying them. When they entered college, they told me not to wait up anymore in several of their activities. That is because they can handle the situations they are in themselves. How old is Manny Pacquiao? He is the world's pound for pound boxing champ. He is the Philippines' richest congressman. Surely his mother must know that his son could fight his own fight. I say, advise Mommy D. to take charge of orphanages. Her effort will be deeply appreciated.

Very well said and I am in complete agreement with you. I guess that as a mother, Mommy Dionesia (will not be social anytime soon) has the right to protect her child - that's her instincts talking. However, we must also consider Manny as he is - a man with a family and supports his family by fighting a bloody sport with an audience of millions. You would think that the man can fight anything and everything and still come up as a winner (with a million dollar prize deal). But then, I see the involvement and the hand of the media, who seem to be keen to keep this particular issue into a blown-up spectacle. They have every right to interview Mommy Dionesia but I think they hope they could 'plant' an issue to keep their viewers happy and ratings high.

Oh no! Now everybody's gonna be afraid to debate with Manny because Mommy D will be going after them! Lol, yeah I agree this makes Manny look bad. Sen. Santiago already won this fight when she chooses to remain silent. Mommy D is just being protective of her son, a typical mother's instinct. However, she lacks the social skill to control her temper and degenerated into her "palengkera" nature, which makes it comical. This just raises another question as to why the media capitalized on a mother's ire to gain mileage. Imagine if mothers of all the politicians embroiled in a debate or controversy was interviewed.

if all senators' mothers act like mommy d, then i think the debate will be more like a cockfight where you can't understand who to focus.. i hope Mommy Dionisia should learn to have etiquette... she should know where to place herself in a situation like this.. after all, she has a man for a son..if Manny learnt boxing on his own, then as he entered politics, he should learn how to play with it well by himself..

I feel that Mommy D has a point though. Manny is a Congressman and he's just fighting for something he believes although I'm a PRO RH BILL I understand where Mommy D is coming from. She just son't want to see his son being treated that way. Miriam said something that is completely rude. I just don't understand why can't Miriam express her opinion without implying that Manny should just stay in boxing and leave politics to them because he doesn't know enough about it. It's just not right at all.

Hello WarriorX, I think it's Mommy D who should stay away from those talks because this is about the country that manny and sen. santiago is their issue at and her concerns alone where merely for his son. who happens to be old enough to make a stand on his own. i think mommy d wants another freaking spot light and at the same time protecting his son.

That is vfery admiring of Mommy Dionisia to defend her own son. Still, I couldn't help but feel embarrassed with her words or comments about Mirriam Defensor Santiago's criticisms. Hahaha! I have to admit, the way she say things and especially broadcasting it through media is very entertaining.

Well, everyone is entitled to his own opinion. Manny Pacquaio has the right to tell people about his stand on the RH Bill. And Miriam Defensor is also free to correct, comment with Manny's statement. Mommy D as a mother maybe got hurt with senator Defensor's statement so she also defended with his son.

It's understandable for a mother to defend her child. I think in Mommy Dionisia's case, it is just but natural for her to do that. I couldn't help but laugh at her seeing her so angry. It's a good thing , Miriam Santiago knows what she should do- shut her mouth. People who is filled with wisdom should be like that - not to stoop to the level of those less learned people.

mommy D. you're freaking out!! hahaha well, Santiago did not say any bad word or something like that to Manny, she didnt over-criticize him as well. and to see mommy D's reaction she seems to be over-reacting. doesnt she know that in Manny's world as a congressman, talks like that are just normal, i mean we really cant avoid it you know... so why freak out like that?! she just made a famous boxer and billionaire congressman appear like a mama's boy.! :)

It is true that a mother's instinct is to protect her son. However, Mommy D., should know when to do that. Manny can protect himself already both physically and mentally. In the debate of RH Bill, Mommy D should have left it to Manny. Good thing that Mirriam did not went down to Mommy D's level. I also agree that Mommy D just wants publicity.

well, you got to understand Mommy D. It's a mother's instinct to protect her child. Considering the manner Sen. Santiago blasted Manny's position re: RH Bill (I'm pro-RH, by the way), nobody can really blame her. Lesson: if you're going to criticize someone, do it in a civilized, educated way. Freaking out like a mental case just won't do.

its not a question about mothers heart to defend his child, but how to defend a child without being watched like a comical movie.. hehehe to miriam its just right to keep her mouth shut and warning manny is protected by mommy D... but madam miriam is also right about Hippocratic act... when manny's wife admits she uses contraceptives... how can be anti in that case? its just my opinion... hello to my neighbor manny pacquiao.

From what I understand about Mommy D. She's just so protective. And now that Manny is so celebrated in almost all parts of the world where boxing is recognized, Mommy D just enjoyed being such a protective mom. I sensed that she loves being on camera and get interviewed. I could even remember what she said before "Ganyan talaga pag sikat ka na, ang dami nang intriga" And saying it I could see a sense of enjoyment... She just enjoy being interviewed by the media. She loves to be a celebrity. She always wanted to be on the spotlight.
