Plans Never Work Out How You Plan Them

I love planning things. But they tend to never work out. Like today, yesterday I planned that I was going to the bank today and then going to Dunkin' Donuts to get an iced coffee and a big n' toasty sandwich and bring my boyfriend an iced coffee at work. Now I don't feel like doing either. I'm in no mood for an iced coffee or sandwich. Now I want my leftover pizza instead! And I'm planning on going to the bank after work now. My goodness!
Planning ahead rarely works out for me. I'll tend to get sick or not want to do it anymore. How about you? Does this happen to you often?

Everybody plans but everybody has a problem in executing it. Same with me as well. I plan some 100 things in the weekends, but end up doing 2 or 3 things with difficulty. So it's better not to plan on weekends or holidays, just wake up in the morning & act according to your mood. If you are in a mood to go & meet your friends & chill out, do it or you want wrap around a blanket & sleep or watch TV or a DVD at home, do it. I'm following this from one month. I don't have to plan now, everything happens spontaneously.

hi steph,
Oh I always plan something that I don't get to finish or do in the end. I'd rather do things without concrete plan. LOl! Because most of it are bound to happen and accomplish.

Actually planning for me sometimes works well, but do have my moments where I have planned things and have had to forced myself to get up and go. There have been times that I have mapped out a full plan and then I just do not want to budge.
I at times have procrastinated and said okay I will get up in a bit then I turn around and hours go by and somehow find it an excuse to comfort myself as to why I did not further take action. lol

Oh no. I'm a victim to procrastination as well. That's usually why half my plans get busted!

since I could remember I've always been a planner, and my plans short-termed and long-termed always go the way I wanted them to but just last month I lost my job, the job I wanted so much and loved, since then things like this happen to me, I'm so down on my luck that it has happened two times that I postponed my plans because other people are not cooperating and three times that the weather did not cooperate...then my plug in internet got broken..........yadda yadda yadda...everything just is not cooperating with me...
I now am cruising through life for the first time not planning anything and I feel a bit relieved actually...
though, I'm really looking for a job, but I have no set goals yet...

Ah yes, I used to plan a lot more than I do now. I find almost no point in it anymore to plan EVERYTHING. It's not needed. And yes, it is a relief!

Well, I'm talking about little plans. Like going to Dunkin Donuts or something. Not life plans. But I get what you mean. God does have a life plan for every single one of us.

i read this in a psychology article somewhere in the internet. unfortunately i can't remember where exactly i read it. but here is what i understand of the article.
when you start something that you have to do regularly, make sure that you do it without fail every time. because if you allow yourself to have excuses not to do it, your training your psychology to allow failure. The next time you have a discipline you want to apply to yourself, there are chances you will not follow it rigidly.
Maybe you can apply this lesson your problem. The next time you plan something, make sure you strictly follow the plan. This will train your psychology that when you planned on something you will follow it.

Plans often do not work as you intended but it is good to have them because when something different happens to upset them you need the plan to get back on track again. Also when they do work out as you intended you get a great feeling of achievment

Sometimes we can out too much stock into making a plan and not following through with. Plans don't come to fruitition. that is why they are just called a plan.

I also make plans, and reality for me rarely goes according to plan. I just have it as a guide on what to do.
Although I would have days where I wouldn't want to do anything that I planned, I would also have days where I try to make things better than I planned.
Like if I wanted to go to the bank at 1pm, I would try and make it 2 hours earlier, so I would have more time for myself at the end of the day.

That happens to me a lot. Before, being the Type A personality that I was, it bothered me a lot. Now, I've learned to just let things be. Now, I still plan, but, I know that somehow that the plan will be somewhat changed. But, at least with the plan, there may be changes, but, I would still be in track as to what things I really need to do.

I think if you make a plan . you should try seriously to do your plan. indeed, sometimes it's not suitable with you want.

Sometimes it is not easy to predict if the plans will work out. If a person comes to appointment but her friend does not come, he might be upset and think about the reasons she could act like that, whether there is some serious occasion she did not come to the venue. Of course, situations might be different.

I have never gotten used to this. I like to plan ahead and know what is going to transpire and what is expected. It never pans out exactly as I have planned. Never. Sometimes to the point of shere frustration. And, yes, I do change my mind sometimes as to what I want to eat. Usually not though. I get the idea of something in my head and it stays for the most part.

I really don't like to plan...lol. Everything throughout the week is scheduled for me. On the weekends or during my time off...I try not to schedule a thing. I like getting up and not having to be at a certain place at a certain time. At least not when I don't have to. They don't work out exactly like I want them to anyway...lol..I find that not planning works out better.

Only those issues that we cannot live without will go according to plan. As we will work towards them. Take for example meeting a deadline. Even if there are unannounced guests at the gate for example you would tell them to excuse yourself as you have something important to do. But if you have planned on going for iced coffee or sandwich you will not adhere to that plan as you can do without it and so the mood takes the better of you or you will let your guest in!. That is what is happening in my life.

That's usually the case at least 90% of the time. We have a mental image of what's going to happen but that mental image just never made it reality. The reality is something completely different. Either there wasn't any time left or there is too much time left. Or someone didn't show up. Something wrong has to occur to ruin everything.

I don't know about everyday plans, my life hasn't worked out the way I thought it would. I suppose you could say that each little everyday plan sort of deviated and that is why I have ended up an Artist and Writer even though I started out as a Teacher. We never really know what is going to happen from one minute to the next. It's a good job we don't. The phone might ring and your whole day changes for the best or maybe for the worst. A friend may drop round and change your life! There is only now and that is how we have to live: in the moment.
