In life Good and the bad go together. So where there is belief in god , there is bound to be also a belief in Devil. Personally speaking , I have never come across any ghostly experience in my life, though I have heard many such stories and real life experiences shared by others.
Friends please share some of your experiences here and your views regarding Ghosts and hauntings...

I find belief in God or the Devil irrelevant to belief in Ghosts.
I am not a Christian.
I do beleive in Ghosts, and have experienced them myself. both those that are conscious spirits and interact with people and things that are here now, and those that are just recordings being replayed over time and time again.
in my Early teens I did some mediumship training, and have done some Paranormal investigations of historic buildings.
can you reconcile belief in ghosts with what Christians beleive happens after you die?

I agree with that ! We can believe and be firm about our beliefs only when we have the confidence. My grandpa is a firm believer of ghosts. He recounts many experiences and says that most of the time they mind their own business ...Of course it is hard to believe since I have never had any experience nor encounter

I agree anil, that we all grew up listening to stories about god and ghosts. It is something that has gone on for generations , but so far both the concepts remained unproven. No one has neither seen nor experienced the two in a definite manner ...

Hello kiran, In fact every person grow with listning about ghost from parents, grandparents etc, from child hood than we believe in these things. It is said that it we say 100 time a false one as true than it became a truth. Ghost and Gods present in this world. If a person beat his child and wife after drinking alocohal what you say them, he is ghost.

HI Kiran! I vaguely remember having shared some experiences with you in a similar discussion long back where Deepak also came in and we all had plenty of fun.I even vaguely remember my description of the particular pink saree worn by the ghost .
Anyhow, getting back to the old story--In my school, other classmates of mine believed that there were ghosts and in my sixth and seventh standard, I was led to believe that a ghost would visit the last room , a corner room of the third floor,. Our class was in the third floor. One classmate told me that it wore a pink sari too. Whenever, we happened to be just a few in the floor I was also pretty scared and used to run for my life lest I should be confronted by our pink sari friend. In my mind I also had the picture of the pink sari[till date I have it] and this ghost was supposed to be wearing jingling anklets.
In hindsight I have always been pretty tickled by the whole episode and my naivety. The innocence of the young!

Hi kala, I guess we did respond to a discussion about ghosts....I am not sure if I started it or someone else did ! I also remember the pink saree lol Guess what kala? I too had a childhood version of a ghost, and always a she ghost wearing a white saree and loose hair and her feet turned inwards. I used to feel scared even thinking about the description. But now it seems so silly, but for children that is enough ...I agree that when we were young we were so very naive, innocent and impressionable

LOL , a modern day ghost right ? reminds me a funny movie I watched some time back about ghosts and haunting. The ghosts in the movie are trying their level best to haunt and scare the people of a house because they want them to leave the place. But no matter what they do none of those people are scared nor intimidated....It was a western film, very funny...

Kiran, what made you talk about ghosts ......................?I have not met any ghost so far (probably, they did not find me worth meeting ). I have only heard and read stories about ghosts. I do not want to face any ghost, let them exist, if they do but not at my place.

.........so it was an old classic which triggered the discussion. Hope any ghost is not reading this discussion of yours, else s/he will come and make you numb, when you are alone at night.

Good question deepak, normally something triggers us to think of something and then start a discussion topic on that. In my case I watched an old hindi black and white film called 'Kohra' with my friends just a day before I started this discussion. The film is scary in parts and I decided to start a discussion on ghosts
I too have not had the chance of meeting any ghosts so far, I guess I would go numb if I came face to face or even spotted one at a safe distance...

Yes i do believe in Ghost because one of my relative told that he saw ghost in real and which was too longer where he can't see the face of ghost. It was covered with hairs and wear white dress and even he can't see the feets of it. I don't know but he told these things and from that day i use to believe it.

how can your relative saw that ghost whereas ghosts have no solid or even liquid skin or internal organs????
true, you relative cannot see that ghosts face because there is no mass for the eyes of your relative to see it....
Ghost with hair and wear white dress????
there is no solid mass of skin for the dress and hair to attach... so there is no reason for the ghosts to wear it....

Hi lou, I too have heard many such stories about ghosts, sometimes each one contradicting the other. But unless we personally experience something we cannot believe in anything including ghosts , thats what I feel...
Hi mantis, since no one knows how a ghost looks one can only imagine things about it ..

Hi Roopjyoti, thanks a lot for or sharing those details. I guess there is something in it especially with quite a few people claiming to have seen ghosts and have experienced their presence - But again for most other people unless they experience it personally it becomes very difficult to believe in it

Hi kiran8, I have heard a lot of scary stories about ghost since my childhood. It's weired that I have pretty great interest to listen to the dreadful stories but I always feel scary after listening them. Ghosts in different dreadful appearances are available in many horror films which I had watched before.
The most scary film is one old dracula movie that I had watched before. The horrific scenes as well as background music will still occur vividly in my memory whenever I'm alone in somewhere where I'm not familiar with I hope I don't come across any of this scary ghost forever no matter they are available or not in our planet
Happy posting

it's really scary after watching horrific movies or listening to ghost stories. There is time I still can't resist from the temptation when my friends urge me to accompany them to watch their favorite horror or dracular mivies I will regret when I'm alone in night time lol...
Have a nice day

Hi kiran, God,Devil,Angel, evil spirit or Ghost all are creation of humans. The stories are fantasy. I can't understand why people worship gods. But I like ghost stories and like to watch horror movies. At a deep night I walked through a cremation place of my village ,but no ghost came before me.

Hi bhanu, agreed ! I too have similar feelings regarding the issue unless I am proved otherwise. I too like ghost stories and I remember how my children would huddle around listening to scary stories and then insisting on sleeping in the same room. They wouldnt let me stir out of the room. Though they are grown up now, when they come home for holidays we still have these sessions

Physically, I beleive there are no ghosts. It is all in the mind. Our guilt, fears and insecurities are the reason many of us think that ghosts exist. Imagination plays its own part here. It is also an excuse to explain away happennings that are normally not understandable.
We have some marsh lands in coastal places. Sometimes there is a spontaneous fire there. From time immemorial this phenomenon was said to be the work of bad spirits. This was perhaps said in olden days to scare people into not going to these dangerous place at night. It turns out what burns out there is a gas called H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide) which comes out of rotting vegetation there. So much for ghosts.

Hi webearn, That is possible because mind is greter than anything else in the world. Most of our personality trait and behavioral traits come more through our mental make up rather than what we have inherited.
No doubt that a small incident that has some unexplained points can be used to promote certain theories by people and over a period of time it becomes a legend and everyone starts believing in it...

I haven't had any experiences with supernatural beings but, as far as ghosts go, I think they'll only exist if you truly believe they exist. It only depends on how much belief you put into them. It's about being scared in the middle of the night with all lights out and believing something is behind you.

Hi frontvision, I agree that probably it exists in ones mind and not actually in physical form. We get scared of every little thing after watching a horror movie and refuse to go to dark corners, whereas just before watching we might have gone to the same place without any fear !thanks a lot for sharing your views

Yep, that's my point. It's like fear of anything, it only exists in your mind. If you're intimidated by something, it can actually be reversed if you know how to.

In my childhood,I used to be afraid of ghosts. But as I grew up,I had lost belief in them and now I am fearless about them. Many people run around saying countless ghost encounters. But I believe none of those are true and they are all pure imaginations and hallucination.Recently I saw a trailer regarding an American TV series of real life ghost encounters caught on tape and to be released soon. They appear scary only to those who believe in them.I dont believe them because I want peace of mind.I don't to be hiding and fearing about stupid stories told to children to prevent them from doing mischief.

Hi narnia, thanks a lot for sharing your views !Belief in ghosts could well be imagination or hallucination, but unless it is proved , one cannot disapprove it either, one has to give the benefit of doubt...I too would prefer not to dwell too much on those issues..

I'm not too sure about ghosts although I believe in spirits or some kind of energy force that still exists or lingers around. I have probably been lucky not to have seen any ghosts or spirits but seem to have heard and felt their presence. I don't know what it is but I'm sure it can all be explained in terms of physics, that is very complicated advance physics!

certainly! :-)
Ghosts have been around human beings since the beginning of time and there are plenty of documented stories photographs and other evidence which would make anyone think twice before they said there were no such thing as ghosts! Phantoms and shadow people and voices and just plain shivers up the spine have all been experienced by all of us at least once in our lives. It would be difficult to find a person who said they have never ever experienced the presence of an unseen person. At least I have never met such a person who says they have never either seen a ghost or felt the presence of something supernatural in their lives.
One of my favorite programs is coast to coast by Art Bell. Once a year or Art Bell would have collars tell him they are experiences with ghostly phenomenon. Art Bell is now retired but I still enjoy listening to old reruns of that show when I am in the mood to think of ghostly things.

Hi eve, thanks a lot for sharing your views !There are loads being written about ghosts, hauntings and manifestations.I have also come across many people who have shared their experiences. The only experience that I have ever had was somehow vague and confusing !Once when I was cooking in my kitchen at night with the back door which opens to my garden open, I had this feeling that someone was watching me from behind the mango tree. It was sudden and I almost could feel a strange sensation.I immediately switched on the outside lights but no one was there.I really cant go by that one experience. It could have been anything, a cat or a dog or someone who was trespassing ..I will look out for Art Bell - all the best and have a nice week ahead

It depends for people though. For me, yes I do believe in ghosts because I, myself, have seen one before. I got it from my mother. I do not have an open third eye but I feel them. There was once, I went back home really late because we traveled to another city to join in a competition and came back to our place. When I was walking along the road, I saw a man in black suit facing his back to me, and I thought, "Why in this time?" It was already 11 pm by then, and just think about it, I'm living in a village/province that time. Suddenly, I saw the man turn around slowly and I was certain that it was a real one! I was really freaked out and I ran like a maniac that time!

Hi mister, thanks a lot for your response. You know sometimes our mind plays tricks on us and if we are mentally disturbed then we see what we fear or whatever is uppermost in our mind like it happened with you. You know it might have really been a man who was either drunk or finding his way, a stranger - there can be many explanations...what do you say ?

Hmm... I'm not really sure how to answer this, let me see...
Uhm... I have never seen a ghost, nor do I want to ever see a ghost. I guess I can say I don't believe... that I can go about a house alone at night, and even walk along corridors of old buildings which reputedly has ghosts. But at the same time, I keep at the very back of my head, the possibility that ghosts might exist... but I say it is highly unlikely, and I don't expect to see one ever.
So you see even I make myself confused... do I believe in ghosts or not? =P
Do you?

Hi moirai, lol, I doubt if anyone is actually waiting or wanting to see a ghost.I too am somewhat confused about ghosts and hauntings. I have written about the one experience I had which is again vague, but I have never had that kind of strange fear any time in my life...

yes i do believe in ghosts , because my mom was suffering for it, she used to say somebody was holding her legs , her hand very tightly, she was very depressed with these incident, but yet i never seen any ghosts personally, but in television in discovery channel a show named I DON'T WANT TO DIE, it is a show in which they have included from real story of people's life, so i do believe.

Hi kajal, I really don't know why a ghost would want to do that a human being? I mean when we analyse it doesn't make any sense since they are out of this world so to speak. I too have many programs made on hauntings and ghosts and some of them do make you feel scared and also believe in their existence !thanks a lot for sharing your views
