Does Anyone Really Cares Who Wins?

I have to honestly say I do not. The real Idol was Pia who should have never been voted off once again the most talented and best singer will not be The American Idol. Everyone else is very boring to me and the judges are very soft. Yes Steven Tyler is funny and JLo is interesting to watch. I just wish they weren't so nice and never pushed anyone to their limit. I saw no growth and everyone was the same each week. Scotty is the teenage crush this year. I wouldn't see him or Lauren for free. I don't even care who wins the only reason I will watch is to see who the surprise performers are going to be. If you want to see a great talent show based on vocal ability and not looks or popularity I would highly recommend The Voice which is on NBC Tuesday Nights. Now that is talent and a exciting show. If Simon stayed on this would be a totally different outcome. He never would have wasted the judge's save on Week 2 with all people Casey. Another mediocre group and sad to say this will propably be all Idol will be about. This may be my last year watching cause it was very painful. Bring on X Factor!

I have not watched this show all season and I doubt that I will watch the finale. I just do not like the judges and I think that the real critic was taken off when Simon left. Randy does a good job too, but he is not as critical as Simon. I do not care who wins either.

Randy is very soft. Simon can't be replaced. Steven and JLO are nice and funny just need to be tougher. It's a tough business and they both know that. Randy likes to claim his Journey fame. I am a Journey fan and don't remember him on any of the album covers. Don't remember him at all.

snoopyfan,
I suppose that's the reason why Simon Cowell is so heavily demanded in such shows, his persona just makes a world of difference.
I never liked soft judges that always seems to leave the contestants in the lurch and the show just looses that needed harsh punch for non performers.

I think Simon jumped off Titanic before it hit the iceberg. He was smart leaving after last year. He is not missing a thing. Judges way soft that's why the kids this year are so full of themselves. They only heard they were great all season. I saw no growth in any of them. Same thing every week. Idol has jumped the shark.

Every year my husband says he's not going to watch American Idol the next season but he always ends up watching it again. I actually like both Scotty and Lauren. My favorite is Lauren and my husband's favorite is Scotty. But it doesn't matter to me who wins because they both will probably end up with contracts with someone to sing anyway.

I know what he means right now I am thinking I won't watch next year but I know I will. I guess we both hope it will be a better group they had a few that were fun to watch each week. And yes both will get contracts they usually do and then you never hear from them again.

I agree that they should not have used their save on Casey. Frankly, I think their save should have been used on James two weeks ago! But that's ok, because I believe that James will get a record deal anyway.
I didn't really like Pia. But of course that's just my opinion. I've been rooting for Scotty from the very first week. I just like his voice and of course I am a country music fan, so his style really appeals to me.
I think that is the fun part of the show is that each contestant brings a different style of music and voice to the stage. It's interesting to see how the fans react.
The year that my son's friend Kris Allen won, we of course we rooting hard and voting for Kris. But I bought Danny Gokey's album the day it came out!

I know I came in late on this one, but it's never too late to make any comments.
There are always excitement and disappointment with AI results. Of course, shocking elimination is nothing new. Nothing new and no matter how things change, AI will never please anyone.
I did not like how this year's American Idol turned out, but it was still better than last year's overall. I'm not saying that I hate country - I don't mind it at all, but Scotty McCreery in my opinion doesn't have nationwide appeal. There are issues that will still remain no matter what.
Pia Toscano is a great singer and many would like to see her become this year's winner. Why was she eliminated so early? Let's take a look at few factors. If you remember Randy's comment: ballad ballad ballad. There's nothing wrong with singing ballad, but couple songs she picked have been overdone. Again, there is no certainty to why she ended up being shockingly eliminated.
Another factor has to do with voting in general. This year was the first time people can vote online through Facebook, but they limit voting to 50. I'm not sure 50 per contestant or 50 overall. While phone voting has been unlimited, people who have AT&T cellphone can text and text their votes a lot more. There are people that are so devoted to voting hundreds and thousand times. There are people that just cast few votes here and there. Somehow the few and multiple votes create unfairness for some contestants. That happened to Casey two weeks earlier. Wouldn't it be nice if voting is limited? For example: one for each contestant per method like what they did in 'The Voice' (10 votes per method).
I read an article that American Idol producers are considering changing the voting system after they noticed how AI results seem to favor male singers (5 female contestants eliminated in a row). They might consider doing something like Dancing With The Stars, where judges are given the ability to cast votes or assess points. We'll see what they will do or how they will change it. Somehow, I do not think that they will limit the voting. It's all about the money.
Going back to voting issues, there have been speculations about voting demographics. Many would blame teenage girls since they would more likely favor male contestants that appear cute or appealing to them. Also, some of them would gang up with their moms and cast lots lots of votes. Somehow girls and older females influence the voting results more than overall voting demographics. Again, there is no certainty on this. I can go on and on, but there is a site where you can read about this: votefair.org.
About the judges, American Idol doesn't necessarily need Simon Cowell, although his comments lots of time had been right. Two new judges, although they seem soft or boring, knew what they said, since they have lots of experience in the music industry. Still, I hope that Steven Taylor can come up with better criticism and constructive feedback. I also hope Jennifer can be stronger, although I read that she may not do another American Idol next year.
What I hope, American Idol should do something with the voting system. The judges should be given the ability to determine who stays or who goes home. Also, American Idol producers should really consider harder who should be the American Idol. American Idol is the one that should have NATIONWIDE appeal, not just teenybopper appeal, or southern appeal, but NATIONWIDE appeal.

Hey Garson as you can see I am pretty late myself. Get on here when I can no computer at home at the moment. Love your answer and all the work you put into ansewering it. Can't wait to hear more from you.

Both will be alright cause both will have record deals it happens every year. I think it's better not to win. Except for Kelly and Carrie the other winners never had the same success. The best thing that happened to Daughtry was not winning. He has had the most success as a non-winner of Idol. This time next year we will be saying who won last year? I don't even know what happened or remember who won last year. I never heard of them.

Hey, it's nice to see you! I actually don't watch American Idol. Of all the years I only watched one complete season. I think it was the year Carrie Underwood won. But I am looking forward to The X Factor. It really appeals to me. Even though I don't watch American Idol, I do watch Dancing with the Stars. And having heard Pia sing on Dancing with the Stars, I too wonder how she got voted off.

Yeah I am still around. Haven't gotten my computer yet try to pop on her so I won't lose my account. As for Pia I think she got voted off cause people thought she would be safe and didn't vote for her. I can't wait for X factor either. You have to check out The Voice on NBC. It is great and based on vocal ability. It's not to late to watch they haven't started their live rounds yet. It's going to be tough to call on that one. I have been watching Idol since season one. Been very disappointed two years in a row.

I am scared it is going to be Scotty though it would be funny cause Lauren is so fake and she thinks she is the next Mariah or Celine. NOT!

Yeah, I think American Idol now is not an exciting show to watch because the ones who really have a good voice have been voted off. When the show is starting, I thought Pia and James will make it till the end. I expected to see them both in the grandfinals but what happened is a disaster. None of the idol hopefuls should be removed earlier because they are talented. I don't like what is happening in the show, they are all boring. It's not American Idol, it's becoming a popularity idol. People should vote with the one who has a talent not for the looks.

Yes it is very boring even the show last night those single songs horrible again. Can't they write a great single that people will actually like. No wonder they fade away.

Yes, I agree- it was Pia who should have won AI. When Pia was gne, I rooted for Casey and Haley- but then America didn't love them either. I don't even care who wins now too... But i'm still going to watch the finale.

Only watching to see who the surprise performers are going to be. I know Aerosmith will be performing Steven said that on The Tonight Show. Neither one will go far.

I had a feeling the top 2 would be Scotty and Lauren. I think they are both very talented. Since a male country singer has never won yet I suppose it's time 1 did. I honestly thought Pia would have been in the top 3. Every season a really talented singer is voted off way too early but they are the ones who usually end up making it bigger than the winner. Look at Daughtry. I can't remember who won that season but Daughtry made it and still making it bigger than the winner. They even used 1 of his songs as a theme song for the next season. Id Daughtry would have won would he have been able to take his band along with him? Probably not so the advantage of him not winning he was able to take his band with him.. I agree the judges were too soft. I was surprised Steven Tyler was a softy. I figured he would have been tougher than he was.

hi! :)
I agree that they should not have used the save on Casey. I liked Casey, but I believe there were others waaaayy better than him. I also looked forward to Pia growing in the show, but that was cut short. :P
I don't know, but AI has become boring to me, and I don't care who wins anymore. I think Scotty will win, but I'm just not a fan of his way of performing and I don't like him. I don't hate country music.
I haven't watched a full episode ever since Hollywood week! haha. I skipped the last few weeks and watched the performance of the Top 3. I was happy to see Haley performing well. I love her voice. :D

I love Country and I can't stand Scotty. He is karoke country and will be eaten up alive. I am afraid he may win cause the kids like him. He reminds me of Howdy Doody meets Vanilla Ice cause he tries to act like he is all that and a bag of chips.

I was really rooting for Haley. I believe she is the dark horse of this season. She has been great over time. I think she deserves to be in the finale, but unfortunately, she's not. If she were there, there would be more excitement.

Sorry I didn't care for Haley. I only liked Pia for the girls. I did like Jacob but I knew he wouldn't get to finals. He could never show what kind of artist he wants to be. He has a great voice now he just needs to figure out what direction he wants to take.
