Are you in the US but still unemployed?

I am inclined to believe that in the US there are plenty of jobs and if you're not picky, you can easily land on any, even two or three of them. While the other side of the stats says that a big percentage of people there get laid off because that could be caused by recession and other factors; it makes me wonder because whenever I check Craigslist, Backpage and heaps of ad posting sites, employment doesn't seem to run out. For those of you who are in the US but unemployed? I was wondering what could be the reasons you couldn't get a job? What's your experience while you're attempting to get a job but ended up not getting it?

One thing to keep in mind about the US is that there are big differences in unemployment rates in different areas of the country. North Dakota, which is experiencing an oil jobs boom, has an unemployment rate of just 3%. Mississippi, on the other hand, has an unemployment rate of 10%. Nevada is at 12% unemployment; Puerto Rico is at 16%! So different Americans face different employment challenges based on where they live and of course their qualifications also matter. How many of those jobs on Craigslist that you see require a particular degree or years of experience? People try to adjust to changing circumstances by moving to find work or gaining new qualifications, but it can be a struggle.

Not to mention the number of scam job offers posted on Craiglist. More than half of the jobs posted for my area are nothing but scams.

YEah, it's not difficult to get a job in the US if one is not picky or fussy about the kind of jobs available. What can be more important than keeping oneself alive, money or pride? There are no jobs in this world that is degrading. Jobs are created because there's a demand for such services. IF there's no demand, where are the employment and what's the purpose of their existence?? haha =D

Yes, We in the third world always believe that USA and other European nations do not have unemployment problems. And if they do their unemployed and on social security and they should have no problems. Is this not the case?

I myself do have a job. I live in columbus ohio which is a pretty big city and there are tons of jobs here. But still everyone here that doesn't have one continues to cry that no one is hiring. My bf on the other hand just got a job but its just a crappy one. Which is better then nothing and what everyone else who is whining should be getting. Anyways the reason he is unable to get a job in his field is because he has bad credit. Every job that he would need his degree for does background checks and he fails them just because a few mistakes he made. In my job i have interviewed quite a few people and i work in a entry level place where anyone should be able to get in. The main reasons that people at my place are not hireable are because 1) they don't pass the entry test which is just to see if you think its okay to be late and steal, common sense things. 2) show up to the interview in sweat pants. Okay yes its an entry level job but we dont want you if you cant even get out of your pj's. 3) When we ask them why they want to work here they say because they need money and we are hiring

Since I do writing as sideline job, in one of the researches that I have to do with an article talking about unemployment in the US, I have notice that the problem lies with the unavailability of skills that will fit the job that are open for the unemployed. I agree with the suggestion that the US government is thinking of giving training for its unskilled citizens who want to gain employment.
