For all those Ubuntu freaks here, are you using Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) ? It ships default with Unity and your old Gnome 2 is now long gone. There's a new version of Gnome known as Gnome 3 and believe me, it's wonderful. It's been implemented in some Fedora version and I'm awaiting a Ubuntu release of it. What's your idea on it ?

i still use debian 5 on my 10 years old pc. i don't know if my computer can handle ubuntu 11.04. i'm more curious about ubuntu switching from x to wayland than unity.

For the past months of trying to learn Linux I used Ubuntu with Gnome 2. Now I use Fedora using a light desktop environment that is Openbox for a sminimalistic look. When I heard Gnome 3 is being launched I didn't hesitate to download and install Ubuntu again to give it a shot.
I expected it to be memory hungry but it isn't, It's like Windows 7 shedding off some fat. The sub-pixel mapping of fonts looks much more clear, which is the main problem of other Distros. Overall It feels simple and powerful, absolutely love it.

I am a Linux nut and you make me hungry. I have Gentoo with KDE and Gnome 2, and now I want to see Gnome 3. I am downloading Ubuntu 11.04 to give it a try, but as I am not a Ubuntu fan, I will probably compile Gnome 3 for my Gentoo if I am really impressed. Thank you for the information.
