Hello Friends :)
I was inactive here in last week because I was in hospital in last week. Not because I was feeling bad. My Uncle was admitted in hospital because of some stomach problem.
In hospital doctor told us that he having heart problem without checking previous ECG report that we had in our town's hospital. And he suggested that we should go for angiography. Doctor wasn't available in next 3 days so we admitted him in hospital(because we don't want to take any risk) and waited for that doctor because he is famous in heart problems.
Now during all these days other doctors came for check up and admitted him in ICU and many other things and check up.
Now after all check up and angiography report, all were normal and there wasn't any problem related to heart. And gave us bill with discharge status CURED. ... But what about problem that we came for. Doctor suggested one stomach doctor for it.
Now i just want to know that why he go for all heart check up... Because he don't want to take risk or something else. i know all doctors aren't that type........ But I am dissatisfied with this one...

Hospitalization can cause a lot, I know but things like this you can't rush or it might complicate things. If the doctor said you have to go to another doctor then just follow his advice. It might be the better choice.

Maybe it's linked or something. The doctor isn't definitely dumb, he studied a course and graduated that's why he's a doctor.

Why did not you first of all consult with your family physician who, I believe, is the right person to suggest you the name of the right doctor for the purpose? If you went to a gastroenterologist, you would not have so much unnecessary harassment and the medical bill could have been less. The problem with the medical professionals nowadays is that there is so much super specialization that a specialist of one branch hesitates to comment on a different branch of medicine.

Better get another professional opinion from other doctors.
If the doctors were not able to diagnose your uncle maybe other doctors can.
Have a good day.

being in the hospital is not easy.aside from the fact of paying huge amount for your hospital bills, you also e nd up being dissatisfied with the service and will opt you to go and seek for another opinion from another institution or doctor. Every doctor differs in the way of diagnosing his patient. You have to choose a good doctor.

Hi akp
Sorry to hear about your uncle being sick and not feeling well.
I am only going to assume that based on his clinical finding the doctor felt it necessary to examine/testing and make sure the heart was also not affecting.
I am wondering if your Uncle conveyed chest pains and with his family history perhaps they did not want to take a chance and ordered all the testing.
At any rate, he does need to consult a gastroenterologist, which is a specialist of the Gastro (stomach).
It could be that the doctor over tested, but perhaps he is one of those that prefers not to take chances and decided to do the testing anyways. I do hope your Uncle feels better soon.

Hmm... first of all, the previous ECG result, especially if done some time previously, need not be reviewed for a current problem because these things change and an ECG done several days before may not reflect what's going on with the heart today or right now. What is usually done is to do a repeat ECG, especially during the time the symptoms are felt.
Now, symptoms felt in the area of the chest may be coming from the heart or the stomach. Maybe your uncle's history (personal, family, and social) indicated that he was at risk for a heart problem that's why the doctors thought it best to do a thorough examination of the heart to rule out problems there (which would tend to be more serious) before attributing the symptoms to stomach problems.

Well those ECG reports were not that old.. It was taken just before two days from that one.. I don't think ECG will be change in that short time.
Yes our family history is bad at heart. But if ECG and ecco is normal then why should go for angiography.. Is it necessary??

I don't get it, you said your uncle is having a stomach problem and yet he was advice to go for a heart check up? what kind of diagnosis is that? Is your uncle having difficulty to breathe or his having high blood pressure or hypertension? that the one who checked him up told you guys to have his heart checked.
I haven't seen anyone ( a patient ) complaining about a stomach problem and yet the doctor insisted to check the heart? very strange. If I were you, you should have consulted another doctor's opinion. Is that doctor your family doctor? or just a doctor in the hospital who is available at the moment. I just wonder how much did you spend and yet there are still no good result, get out of that hospital now and find a doctor who can diagnose your uncle better.

Oh dear... And you are sharing this with us now. Sorry to read this painful story. I fail to understand why the doctors behave this way at times. Even I had been to hyderabad in this heat only to find that my doctor was unavailable and I had to return without meeting him.
Going by the read, I think your uncle should consult a Gastro Enternologist. Doctors in almost all places across the world are now forgetting the nobility of the profession and taking the patients as their customers - one who they can drive insane for money. I know I may be wrong but my experiences and this one just prove my point.
I wish your uncle a better health and a better diagnosis. The ailments of any kind are a mess to have and it is always better to get a better and cleaner diagnosis.
For you, I would suggest to spend some more time with your uncle and his family coz I know a support from someone as loving and caring like you will be always appreciated and this would reflect in stronger relationships.
Take Care dear

Thanks sid..
I am with him.. He was with us when we needed him.. And now its my turn. And I will be glad to offer any help.. We had taken advice of Gastro Enternologist too. But those reports were also normal. Doctor had given some medicines and told us to come back in 10 days again.
