Hi friends, day before yesterday i went to attend an interview because in the previous company they kicked me out. So when i attended that interview, recruiter was asking something and when i finished with the self introduction then i was bit nervous and recruiter didn't say anything. Then suddenly i asked a glass of water then he gave me and i drank it on that moment. Now is that good, means asking water while interview session is going on is it good or bad?

As for myself, i never experienced this kind of situation yet in my life. But, i think it is nothing wrong, as long you are able to explain well whenever they question you. The most important factor in order for you to succeed in your interview is, you need to show your positive attitude towards the job that you are applying at that moment.

Yup after drinking water i was able to answer to his questions in a good manner and also with confident. But if i drink water in the middle of the interview session then recruiter may feel that there is a lack of confidence in me, for that reason i am asking for water.

As long you can answered with full confidence, then nothing to worry. Because recruiter usually based high respect more on regarding your experience really suits the job that you are applying or not. They don't really care much about those little bit of request.

Never heard of anyone asking for a glass of water, but thinking about it don't seems a bad doing at all. Your interviewer should know that you're human and as such you need some water from time to time to live, it's completely natural to do so. Besides, probably he will be more intersted in your abilities at the work rather if you need water and for sure he will know that people may become nervous on those kind of interviews. And ultimately, if you're being judged for a simple glass of water, I don't know what deserves the job for you.

Friend that is an interview session which may take around 20Min to 30Min. So on that moment if i asked glass of water then recruiter may feel that candidate means i getting tensed or he means i don't know how to answer to the questions thats why asking for a glass of water.

i have never really experienced this, nor have the urge to drink whenever i have had my interview. hehe but i guess it won't be taken against you.. sure you will be judged from your capabilities, your credentials and not your one time drinking hehe... i'm sure it is understandable if you got nervous...

Yes they will judge from those criterias but the problem is it depends on the recruiter mood. If he is in good mood then sure he will think in positive way but if he is in not a good mood then sure he will think it in negative and he may reject me on that silly reason.

I don't see anything wrong or bad in asking for a drink of water during an interview; but still, it boils down to how you asked for that glass of water and how the interviewer interpreted the situation (which no one knows except for the interviewer himself ). Like the previous response from another myLot member, what is done is already done and there is no use crying over spilt milk. Just hope for the best, expect the worse and pray for some good news from the company...... In the meantime, it might be a good idea to look for other vacancies elsewhere as there might be some openings to take advantage of......good luck!

Yes, well said. I agree that drinking water in an interview itself is not bad, but it could be bad if you asked for it in a weird way or something. If you did it in a polite way, I don't see any harm done.

There is nothing wrong with drinking a glass of water during interview; you may offered if you want anything to drink at some interviews. What matters is how you present yourself and how he/she perceives you. If they think you are a good candidate, drinking water during interview should not be a factor at all.

Not a Good Idea unless it is Hot Outside or Your Offered Water. Drink before the Interview if needed. If you can make it wait till after the Interview. Your on Their Time during the Process. Not a Good Idea to Eat or Drink during the Process.

Yup that is a good idea. I could have drunk the water before going inside the interview room or else after coming out i can drink water. But on that moment i wouldn't know what happened to me!! suddenly i asked for glass of water. I was unable to speak and even my mind was not working according to my plan.

Actually it depends in what context you asked for water and also the way you asked. i think you asked for water which was due to your nervousness and this assure the recruiter about this. In my view the recruiter will consider this but not alot. as He must be looking for a candidate who is enough honest and serious about the company and job. So this is not going to be a huge region I think for selection and not selecting you.

Hmm... well, I suppose there's nothing wrong with it. Better than having a dry mouth during an interview. =P Although it might be better if, next time in case, bring along a bottle of water and drink before you enter the room for the interview. =) I hope you pass! =)

i think asking 4 a glass of water doesn't effect ur interview so much.it just show ur nervousness.meanwhile if u r true 2 ur ans then a glass of water can't stop u to go forward...........so all d bestand have a gud luck

This is actually my first time to hear something like that, asking water within an interview. In my own opinion, I think it's really awkward and weird and I think, the interviewer really knows you're nervous and you just made it really obvious. But anyway, it's all done. You just have to be positive on what is the possible outcome of the interview and as long as you were able to answer his questions, that's a sure relief.

No. i personally feel its not good to ask a glass of water in the middle of an intervies. During the start of the interview its understood that the person is ready now asking glass of water is bit of contradiction & can be worse depending on the interviewer how he takes it???But please do avoid such things in interviews do rehearsals before giving interviews.
