So, when is the next doomsday then?

Almost every year, a new prediction of doomsday appears. Like now, May 21, 2011, they said it's the end of the world. But it's exactly 11:44pm on my clock and only few more minutes to go before their prediction expires.
So, when is the next doomsday?
It's on December 21, 2012.
I actually searched for it on discussions so as not to put a duplicate post. And the last post about the topic "December 21, 2012" was made 5 years ago. So, it has been predicted long ago.
Going back on the doomsday, the date was said to be a prophecy of the scholars who studied the end of the Mayan long calendar. It is said that Mayan is more complex than our modern calendar, the Gregorian calendar. Mayan has actually three calendars. Confusing, eh?
Here are some sites for you to read:
viewzone2.com/endtimex.html
www.december2012endofworld.com
I've read those, but honestly didn't understand all of them. Very confusing actually which makes me undecided on what to believe.
So, what do you think now? is December 21, 2012 the real doomsday?
***I finished typing this discussion at 12:03am. The world didn't end.

Hi adnileb!
I am so out of date! I never knew there was predictions like these! That's why yesterday I was confused with all the posts about it from my friends in Facebook! I only knew when I asked my friends and she told me about it. I don't really believe in things like these. I don't think anyone can predict this. I think there's no way to tell. But if it has scientific evidence, like another big bang or something, I might believe it.
Cheers.

Me, too. It would be very frightening. Just imagining how those end-of-the-world movies happen in real life is truly frightening.

"I am so out of date! I never knew there was predictions like these!"
You got me laughing on that one secretbear. I didn't know that too until I saw lots of discussions about "end of the world" then looked for it on Yahoo news. Well, I don't that either. I even think there's really no doomsday to happen. But if in case it will happen, I don't want to see how the world ends.

Hello my dear friend!
It's always been like this since millenium and I really don't mind it though the 2012 prediction is quite believable to me since our pastor told me about it and that it was actually studied from the Bible. Sounds scary to me my friend,I don't know but that's my honest reaction. Our pastor is very happy for that ending 'cause he said we will be able to see Jesus at that time but why am I not happy for it? Well,I'm happy to see Jesus, really,so excited to see Him,but what I am afraid of is the doomsday..the earthquakes, tsunamis and every disasters,oh my! I guess, from what our pastor said,am still not ready to face Him.
We can really never tell when exactly is the doomsday,it can be today, tomorrow or the next hour,oh my! But one thing is for sure..there is really an end of the world! We must invest now in our faith for our Lord to be prepared for His coming.
See yah my dear friend!

Hi mtr..
Of course we're happy to see God but like you said, it would be scary if disasters will happen. I've heard a lot of doomsDAY but none of them even shake the earth a bit for some quakes nor did it rain to have some floods. We can really never tell when is the end. Although the 2012 prediction or prophecy is based on science, I am not convinced yet. Their calculations may not be that exact due to some discrepancies on the other aspects of science.
But whatever it is that will happen, we should always live our lives to the fullest.

Hi my friend!
Yes,we should live our lives to the fullest and in Godly ways.
I remember our pastor said about science and the bible interpreters met with one prediction and that the end of the world will really be done in the year 2012,oh my! Really scares me my friend!

The Bible tells us we won't know the day or time.
My son has read a lot about the Myan calendar ending 12/21/12. One school of thought is that will be the day that time travel finally becomes possible, and when it does, we'll be inundated with people coming back to this day so they can see what it was like to be there when time travel started.

No one knows the day or the hour. The man that predicted this needs to re-read his Bible, and believe what it says.
The Mayan calendar thing is nothing to worry about either.
If folks would just read the Bible or at least look up "Bible Prophecies" in a search engine, they'd learn more from what has been prophecied.
There are still prophecies from the Old Testament that have yet to be fulfilled, before the coming of the Lord.
The judgement of God comes "after" the 7 yr. tribulation, which we have yet to enter into.
There is yet to be a peace treaty with Israel by the antichrist, and then the breaking of it, and there is yet a phenominal war, where all nations go against Israel to obliterate her - - and that my friends, is when Jesus Christ Himself will come in a special 'warrior' appearance to save Israel from their enemies. The Bibles says when His feet touch the Mount of Olvies, it will split in two. What a surprise to those enemies who refuse to believe what the Bible says. And who can win over the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords ?! No one, and no army anywhere.

@kenzie, I think being able to time travel is awesome. It has some disadvantages though. I saw the movie The Time Traveler's Wife, have you seen it too?
@classycat, Who can win over the King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Absolutely no one. With so many predictions that has been announced AND proven wrong, many still strives to look for the date of doomsday. What a silly person they are.

Actually, it was supposed to be 6pm PST of May 21, but since we are all still here (myLotting), then I guess we are all safe.
I guess you're right that every year there seem to be a lot of these predictions coming out. And everytime, all those who believe just look silly. I hope that one day all of these so-called prophets would come to realize that no one really knows when doomsday will come.
I'm sure that we'd all be laughing about the 12/21/12 prediction again, by Christmas time next year.

Ha ha ha ha ha...good one...but I've heard..things will start from today and end on 21st Dec 2012.
Till now I've had 6-7 ice creams on so called doomsdays and I'm sure I will have more opportunities in future.

All these doomsdays are nothing but BS...I don't even believe on Nostradamus and his predictions because none of those predictions have been declared before the incidents which have happened in past. I find it correlating the predictions with the incidents which have happened in recent past.
As far as 2012 is concerned, I'm not sure if it is true or false. Even scientists have declared that there is a gamma ray burster in our universe that is aligned to earth and possibility is that there might be a chance of doomsday or ice cream day.

Wow! You ate a LOT of ice creams. I never thought that one. I should have eaten all my favorites yesterday.
There are many hearsays and predictions but none of them, so far, actually happened. Or is there one thing you know they predicted and happened?

I don't think there is such a thing as the real doomsday to be honest, and even if there is, there is no way of knowing when that would be. Simple as that!

I think the 2012 thing will not come true. My canned corned tuna's expiration will be on June 2013.
Joking aside, I believe the world won't end yet. And no one will know when it will. It is in the scriptures.

This doomsday was supposed to be in 21st may 2011, 6am california time. It means that time has come and..... nothing happened :D how always, but its good for sure!
We all are still alive and can live until next doomsday 21 dec 2012. But i dont believe in doomsdays because always someone predict doomsday like was in 2000, 2003 year and other years and how we see we are still alive, so i dont think we need to worry about it :)
I think doomsday will be someday, but it wont be so soon, i think maybe it can happen in thousands and thousands years. But maybe im wrong, its just my thoughts :)

Doomsday comes every now and then. And they just pass without anything tragic happened. So, like you, I really don't worry that much. It's just a normal day for me. And yes, we're still alive until the next doomsday, and the next, and so on until we finally die and that's our personal doomsday.

True! No one really knows it.
And I just can't understand why some people keep on predicting doomsday. I've heard lots of predictions before but none of them seem to shake the ground a bit. Before, when I was younger, they said that at exactly 3pm, there will be an earthquake that will cause for the world to end (can't remember the exact date). Silly people.

People are always predicting the apocalypse, and hundreds of these predictions have obviously been proven to be wrong. There is an interesting article on Listverse that covers a couple of the more prominent ones, check it out if you can!

Well, I'll try to read some of that article later. Yup, you're right, they're always predicting the END of the world. Why can't they just wait for it if it will really come to an end? I myself don't believe in that. To see is to believe, no one can predict it actually.

Is it possible (just like the beginning of 2000 when the whole internet was going to collapse and banks would be in turmoil and all that) that the Mayans just said... OK, this is far enough... we don't need to calculate any further.
Their calendar doesn't say 12/21/12 is Doomsday, their calendar just ends. No one knows when their time is up and no one knows the time of rapture... so let's live our lives like it is our last here on Earth and the world will be a better place for it.
Thanks
Zelo

No one knows.
How many so-called prophets already has declared their prediction and failed.
I believed in God Almighty...the end of the world is near..yes,but no one knows but God alone.
Have a great day..

Yup, I agree that no one knows.
But I think there's no END of the world.
If in case there is and all of us will die, God will again create another being. Like Adam and Eve. And God will make it better this time like an almost perfect paradise like He wants it to be. I should have lived in this era.

Welcome aboard the new world dear great to see many of my friends safe and I too survived the doomsday
Ok, honestly, I believe that the day and time will come when it has to and there is no need for me at least to waste time thinking that it will happen... take life as it comes and enjoy the moment... say thanks to anyone you want to and do your think with the same vigor and heart as you always did...

Hi adnileb
Let's just say I shall see you tomorrow.
I woke up breathing today and suspect, unless some hidden abrupt health issue arises tomorrow for me that I will be blessed again with life.
The end of the world for me will be when suddenly one day I stop breathing.
@adnileb (5276)

Absolutely that will be the end of your world, HWG. But not too soon.
The only thing that we should do now is to live our life to the fullest. So that whenever that doomsday came, we are fulfilled of everything that we wanted in life. If we woke up, well, say thanks. If not, say thanks too. Because we may not fulfilled the other dreams yet but God has plans for everything.

I do think if any of the predictions are true then it's the one for December 21st,2012,but if the predictions are true it will all happen so quickly that we won't ever know what's happening.
