As I have said earlier, yesterday I was on duty as head of a squad to prevent malpractice in some examination centre. Because of the rumor that earth will come to an end on 22nd May 2011, many had left home, they were in temples, churches praying, some spent all their savings eating and merrymaking since last one week.
Well if it has to end, can we prevent it by any means? In the past there were so many such rumors, predictions, it never came.
I never believed on these.
Not even what our Hindu faith says. Here it is: we are passing through ‘KALYUG’ of 432000 years, gone 5112 years, still balance 426888 years.
So why worry for something which MAY come after ‘426888’ years?
The way we are playing with nature, the environment is showing its effect already, as the global warming, change in weather patterns etc.
Do you believe on this kind of rumors, predictions?
What is your valued opinion on this?
Please share.
Thanks in advance. Professor ‘*Bhuwan*’. .
22/5/11 SUNDAY
Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Hi Professor, It seems that every generation has at least one prediction about the end of the world but as you say, it never happens. I find it hard to understand how some people can still believe it. Mankind has the power to destroy civilization as we know it, and there have been some very devastating earthquakes and other calamities, but the earth will remain for a long time yet. Blessings.

According to the Bible (and I can't believe I am quoting this) "Beware of false prophets", that's the first thing, the second thing, "No one, not even the angels in heaven, know when the world is going to end, only God knows this". Read any Bible, Catholic, King James, any of them, and they will all agree on this.

I don't believe in any of these fearmongers that we hear all of the time. I do think that there will be times throughout our lives where we will experience events in the world that will forever change the way that we look at the world. However, I don't think that we will actually experience the end of the world in our lifetimes. The reason that I feel this way is because of the fact that people tend to make things into something that is much worse than what they are.

WE ARE STILL HERE!! Isn't that amazing? Hee hee. I don't understand how anyone could have believed such a prediction - especially when this man was completely wrong once before. I don't understand how stunned these followers when nothing happened - and why they would think such a rapturous event would occur. However I am truly interested in what he has to say now that the time has passed - I haven't found any articles about that. Perhaps he was sincere about his "teachings" but surely he must feel like a fool. Now, I can believe that our earth is making changes - something strange is going on - and not sure how this will affect our planet in the end. In any case, we are alive and kicking today!!!! Have a good week!

The person who started this current rumor based it on his interpretation of part of the Bible, but the whole message of the Bible says that we as human beings do not know when the end of times will come, neither do the angels or even Jesus Christ the Son of God. No, I did not believe it, and why worry if it was true. Worry will not change it. If I believed it I would spend my final week praying and making things right with people and looking to my soul, not my physical body.

I didn't know it was suppose to be the end of the world saturday! I didn't know until saturday! I was like "what idit came up with this idea?"! They mentioned on the person on tv who came up with this idea, but I don't remember his name! They did say he is is seclusion! I wonder why? They the newsman brought up a story of a man living in New York City who is retired and spent must of his life savings putting up posters and billboards that world was suppose to end saturday! He said he didn't regret what he did and believes the world WILL END LATER THIS YEAR! Some people are so crazy and this proves it! There is a sucker born every minute!

Same here, there are lots of predictions and rumors being spread around saying exactly this same matter. Even my sister's friend also informed her of this prediction 2 weeks ago and asked her to enjoy and eat as much as she can. I told my sister not to believed it too much. It turned out i am giving the correct answer and here we are still alive and healthy until now. The most important is, always enjoy a balanced life no matter where we are and hopefully all will always be fine forever.

Well, I did not hear the rumor that the earth will end on May 22nd. Should I heard, I might be staying home and pray... To me everything is possible, I would be anxious but I would not take it to seriously. If it ends, it ends, nothing I can do about it.

Hi Professor
In all honesty I paid absolutely no mind with all that was being said about the end of the world. I did my usual life by being grateful to have lived this far and said my normal routine prayers with the hope that I would be allowed to continue to live yet the next day.
I know many did take it very seriously for which I did not critique, I just did not pay any mind. Really because my hope is to always be allowed another day and if my wishes are granted each and every day I feel very blessed.

The news about the end of the world on 22nd May 2011 was been made only for money .Many people for example think that an old man know when the world will end.Of dear people and friends, the end of the world will come when nobody will know.Do not trust old mans and some prophetes!

No, I don't believe in any of these rumors. Only God knows when the end will come. Like you said there has been so many of these people who think they are special knowing when the world will end and it never happens. More of these people will without a doubt will continue to come forward with such astronomical claims. I wouldn't be surprised if this continues to happen all throughout my life time if I happen to live long enough to die an old man. My grandmother said this these predictions from people happened all throughout her lifetime and she passed away 21 years ago.

Well truly i dont believe in such remours... No matter how experts or scientist predict that end, it wont come true. As said in our christian religion.. The end will come when nobody knows and everybody think that everything is perfect. It is going to come as a theft that what is said in our religion. Till then we should repent for our sins and try to live a better life. There were remours around 2000 that the world will come to an end but nothing happened instead we got 11 years more.. I would like to tell everybody that we should not worry about these things. I think the people who spent their money, or did whatever they want now they must have been regretting what they did. So live life to the fullest and live as if everyday is your last day.

I did not believe it at all. THis is the same guy who had predicted the world was coming to an end back in 1994 and thatr never happened. I took several religion courses and never read this in the bible. I hope that those who did believe will be able to get their jobs back and will have to rebuild their life savings.

I've never believed in such rumors because I consider that nobody knows when the world will end,and for me it's funny to see that yesterday passed like any other day and there's already a new term announced for October, when another apocalypse is scheduled. What really puzzles me is the fact that so many people really believe such lies, which indicates that unfortunately many people are very easy to manipulate.
