Can You Tell a Joke?

Can you tell a joke? I don't mean that you should tell me one now (unless you've a good one I haven't heard of course!), but I want to know if you can speak up and tell one in a group of friends. Personally, I can never remember the punchline of jokes, and there's nothing worse than someone who starts telling a joke then forgets it half way through, so I leave the joke telling to other people. How about you? Do you always have a ready joke, or you someone who just enjoys listening to other people tell them?

Hiya GM, More than being able to tell a Joke I have a great sense of humour a very Wolverhampton sense of humour (grin). However I can´t tell jokes and especially those complicated ones. I can pull off one or two easy ones yes. I make People laugh with the things that I come out with just like that. Don´t know why they laugh but I don´t mind if they do. Those Shows we have on here lately are awful because none of them can tell a Joke to save their Lives they are terrible. We have one of those on each Channel they are almost insufferable most of the time. Not all of us are meant to be Dave Allen or others like him.xxx

I can't put my finger on what exactly a Wolverhampton sense of humour is, but any sense of humour is fine by me!

Hiya GM, Just our way of telling Jokes that´s all and our way of looking at life as well that´s all I mean when I say that. I worked with many People in Hotels and from all over the place and they all have their own way of telling Jokes and attitude to life and sense of humour as well. (grin).

I'm terrible at telling jokes. I can never remember the punchline or I leave out the most important thing that makes it funny. There are a few one-two liners that I can tell but other than that I'm hopeless! I think it takes real skill to tell a good joke.

There's a few I can remember but they're the sort of thing that appeal to 12 year old boys, not grown ups!

I'm quite good at telling jokes, its just my material is for the mature audience and could be of some offence to others, not that intend to because its a joke, but people sometimes can take my jokes the wrong way. I tend to tell jokes of real life situations, some of them are really explicit but hilarious. I'm into the dark comedy always have been. So i normally tell my jokes to people who i know would laugh back not take any offence. I'm quite a funny person, according to my friends and family and tend to be progressive because of it.

I guess that if you choose your audience wisely you'll be a hit! I enjoy dark jokes myself sometimes, but you do have to be careful when you don't know people well.

oh yes, definitely i tend to be careful with my jokes, although must people are mature and take it on the chin and just take it as a joke. i'm glad you find it funny :)

I am not really a good joke teller but a friend of mine is just and encyclopedia of them. You ask him if he has any jokes and he says, name a subject lol.

It must be fun to be able to tell a joke on demand. I bet he has the sort of mind which is good at trivia quizzes too.

I love Billy Connolly. His observations just seem to match mine so well. I think of him every time I see a menu with soup of the day (remember his potatoes of the night?).

Well,I don't so much tell jokes as be sarcastic the whole time.My friends never know whether I'm being serious or being sarcastic and they love me for it as it provides them with a few laughs during the day.

I can do snappy comebacks and short one liners and quips. No time to forget when doing those. Otherwise, there can be a problem with forgetting, as you have said.

My sense of humour, I think, is quite like my Dad's. So when we're together there's a lot of those one liners. Good fun.

Yes , I can tell a joke. And now I can tell more thsan one person. back in the day I would tell my mom jokes all the time. I was painfully shy wither everyone else. But now I can tell a small group too. It is like everything else, it takes practice.

Yes I can and others can't wait to hear them. I used to work in a bar and heard tons of them, then I would take them back to my other job and share....everyone looked forward to my monday after my weekend to work!

I only tell jokes occasionally. I don't really have a bunch off the top of my head.. it's usually something like someone reminds me of one I've heard and that's when I tell it. But I only tell them if I know the whole punch line. Most of the jokes I know are dirty or offensive.. so I need to be mindful of my audience. Have you heard this one? Why do blonde girls have large belly buttons?... Because blonde boys aren't that bright either!

Good one :-) Most of the jokes I know are the sort about farts which amuse little boys!

I sure can! But, The people I associate with are morons. I am a non-violent person so delivering the punch line is beyond me. To punch is violent! I stutter badly and no one has the patience to sit through any of my jokes. I fear the situation when I become the joke and not what I say. Though I have a joke for every occasion, it stays glued to the tip of my tongue and doesn't part. There you are, just PM me when you want a joke next time!

Perhaps if the people you associate with are morons then you had better find different people to associate with ...? Those who have not the patience or courtesy to wait for you to finish what you have in mind, in my book, are not worth your time and effort.

I am not one that can remember a good joke and tell it as is. I am more of the person that will make funny remarks in a conversation. I like to listen to people when they talk and I will make a funny remark that fits the conversation at the right time. No, I am not a comedian.

I enjoy being on the listening end of a good joke too :-)

I think the ability to deliver a joke is also very much down to it being received. There is the matter of timing, is it an appropriate joke and are you surrounded by the right type of people. There is no point in even attempting to tell a joke if the people in your company do not have a funny bone. That look of 'I don't get it' but i'll chuckle anyway is like a bomb exploding in your face. I think the worst jokes are those that people hear and really feel the need to repeat it to anyone that will listen. Also the jokes that tend to spread that are on sublect for the news ie, famous people and affairs, missing children, MP's messing up etc. I think they are very poor taste. Though I will add, when you deliver a joke perfectly isn't the laughing pain you get in your ribs the best/worse pain. You really can't stop laughing and your sides are really starting to hurt. A good joke can make you smile for the rest of the day in my opinion x

I usually tell a joke spontaneously. I get them from my funny personal experiences. And when i do tell them to my listeners, they will really roar in laughter. I also sometimes joke my husband, but most of the time it's him who always make me laugh . . .by tickling me whenever i am laughing, which make me roll with laughter.

Some people are good at telling a joke. When doing it,they are in all seriousness and in an orderly way even though the listeners rock with laughter.Personally,I am awkward in speech.Sometimes,I try to tell a joke ,but I laugh myself silly before the others start laugh.

Your username made me laugh. :P GREENMOO. :D hahaha ... kinda made me expect your pic is a green cow, :D well anyways, i love telling jokes to people, and one thing I learned to deliver a successful joke is NOT to rehearse it before saying it to your audiences. Just get on with it, tell it, or maybe you can rehearse it just in your mind. And don't start with telling "Hey, I have a joke" or "This one's funny.. blah blah blah"... :P and also find the right timing and the right approach. If your audience is very serious at the moment, start by "sounding like you are very serious too" .. It's my favorite tactic and it never failed. :D Being sarcastic is one of my ways too of making my friends laugh. :) I am sarcastic in the beginning then later I'm gonna make a goofy face to them and that's when they know I am just kidding, that I did not mean to be sarcastic. :D Oh my, what have I done, is it okay that these are the things I have shared to you? :) By the way, I like this discussion you started, kinda made me remember some happy moments in my life, hahaha. :D Have a nice day greenmoo. ^_^

Halu, usually jokes appear when we're talking with my cousins,my families specially when we're in groups, sitting in our balcony while eating ripe mangoes mor eating junk foods. it's a big help laughing together becoz of jokes it can ease pains and tiredness, it also a one way to make the relationship between relatives and families always close.
