If you know for sure there is no hell, would you live differently?

No, I would live in the same way I am living now and for your kind information, I know it well that there is neither any heaven nor any hell.

Since I don't really know for sure whether there's heaven or hell, I'm curious why you are certain that there's no heaven nor hell?

No, I would not live differently. I do not believe in heaven or hell. My actions are according to what I believe is right, not according to fear of punishment.

i do not think so. the idea of hell was good for me only when i was a kid. it was used to scare me to do bad things. the idea of going there motivated me to do good things so that i would avoid hell. now, it does not make sense to me. i avoid to do bad things because it can lead me to jail or failures and disruptions of my plan. what rewards me to do good things is not anymore about avoiding hell, but because the good act makes me feel good to do it. that's a reward in itself.

Dante wrote the Divine Comedy and then the catholic church pounced on his description of the levels of hell. The used this description of hell to scare the crap out of the mostly illiterate catholic population of Europe. It caught on as did Purgatory and Heaven. They became physical places instead of spiritual. Hell became a place of torture while Heaven was a place of material and spiritual comfort. Then there was Purgatory...insane...I won't even go there. I always wanted to know what would happen to those in the Physical heaven and hell when the earth finally imploded...lol To answer you question...No, I have never lived my life differently for not believing in the christian Hell, or rather Dante's Inferno. One does not need constant fear held over one's head to know that there is right and wrong in this world. Don't hurt one another. Help one another. Don't cheat, steal. Do Honor your Maker. Do you really have to have fear of fire and brimstone to do that?

I am of a philosophy that God or Nature has given us a brain to think and be good to ourselves and the world at large. I have tried to follow that. Since having a thinking process in place means that I am independent in my actions, I have to either enjoy or suffer the consequences of my actions. Hell beyond life has no meaning to me. In life if I am good and enjoy that that is heaven and the fruits of being wicked is hell to me. I have no reason to change my life as I am reasonably happy now.

if i know there is no hell, i will still do good things to other people. simply because it will give you happiness and feelings of life satisfaction. i think the big consequence of the absence of hell is we have to create the fairest justice system to punish people who harm other human beings. otherwise, these bad people will not hesitate to keep doing criminal things to weaker people.
