myLot using my picture

Is myLot supposed to pay people when they use their pics in their categories? They have been using my cat pic for years for their "Cats" category, without any compensation to me. What's up with that? I thought their terms and conditions say they'd pay for using them, but I might be wrong about that. I've also tried communicating with myLot, but never got any replies.
Any comments?
Thanks.

well, actually, each person can select the picture for their choice of a category...
I have a couple of cats laying on a pink background making a more or less (more actually) heart shape of their bodies... I used to have a picture of kittens on the keys of a piano
so, my guess is that you uploaded the picture and selected it for your own chosen "avatar" for the cats group...
if you don't want it to be used, you can always take it down...

Hmmmm...I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I DID upload it for my own "cats" category. Maybe myLot is NOT using it "across-the-board", but maybe it only shows up in my own myLot pages and sessions. Good point! I'll have to look into that.
Thanks for your input.

UPDATE!! I checked into my "Interests", and, sure enough! I CAN change the avatars on my own categories! So, I guess myLot is not using my pic...I'm using it myself! My bad! Sorry, myLot! And, thanks, ElicBxn, for your insight and suggestion. "Best Response" to you on this one!

As far as I understand, one is paid upon uploading. The amount I don't know. Not much of course. I uploaded an old class photo of mine from 1970 and I see it floating around from time to time in the "Education" category. The one with the little yellow sticky paper on the lower left hand corner. I haven't received any additional compensation.

Thanks for your response. Sounds like you're in the same boat, with your class pic. I know the myLot T.O.S. say that they do have the right to use some uploaded pics in some ways...but I didn't think that meant they could use them indefinitely without some kind of remuneration, y'know?
Thanks again.

Right you are! Nano-pennies for participation is no 'get-rich-quick' scheme, for sure! It's sometimes a fun way to blow off steam, or seek others' ideas, or just read some of the often strange, but often very interesting discussions here. I've now learned that I probably put the cat pic in my "Cats" category myself! So, it might not have been myLot after all...oops! (see also my reply/comment to ElicBxn)

Yes, i don't really give it much thought. As a matter of fact I have gotten into discussions with others about the photo. I really did not do it to earn, I did it to experiment on procedure and such. I don't think much of the earnings here just the discussion aspect.

I have not heard about additional incentives with regards to usage of pictures, but maybe I may be wrong. Therefore it would be best if you contacted our resident admin, you can send a friend request and both of you can discuss in PM. This way you get the right answers. Good luck and if anything that can be discuss, perhaps update us later.

Thanks for your response! I have sent communications via the myLot "Contact Us" link, but I have not received any replies to those (the auto-generated response simply says that my message was received, and that I might not receive any response, so I guess I expected none, unfortunately.)
That's why I thought I'd try it here...to see if others have had similar experiences.
Thanks again.

if this is a photograph that you took then the copyright belongs to you and you would be entitled to compensation up to $50 for every day that this image has been displayed without your permission.
you would need to be able to prove that you took the picture.
Try contacting
Rothborne & Ginstern. they are specialists in copyright theft and are based in NY.

Gee...I'm hoping I don't have to hire legal help. I did take the picture, but I don't know how I'd prove that, except I think I have it on my hard-drive or on a flash-drive somewhere. I'm not looking to make a fortune; just looking for recognition and any compensation that should be mine. Thanks for your input!
