I believe that god is very forgiving. Only people are really hardheaded about it.. Some people commit wrong doings and go to church and ask god for forgiveness, and I believe God will forgive.. and then that person will commit the same sin again... and guess what he will come back and ask for forgiveness again. how cool is that?
Honestly, Humans are humans. God knows our weakness and knows that we are bound to commit sins because he did not make us perfect. He love us so much that he has given us free will to do good or evil.
On my opinion, I guess, God do forgive people... it's us people who can't forgive. When a person commit a sin and accept that he is a sinner, he would ask god for forgiveness, a person with a very strong conscience would think that... he is not worthy of forgiveness, he can't forgive himself for doing so, and accept the fact that he does not deserve heaven.. I guess this is how they end up to be in hell. it's their acceptance to deserve hell. Free will to choose.. and God has no power over free will.
JUST MY OPINION... ^.^

The story goes, that we are here on Earth being tested. A long time before the Earth was created, Lucifer being a being with a will of his own, decided that the Universe would be a better place if he was in charge, and God said, you think so, well let us see.
So, we have the earth, where God does not interfere, is presence is only occasionally felt, and it is muted when it is, his favoured children are here on Earth, with all the tools necessary to distinguish between Good and Evil, and the Agency to make the choices how we wish to make the choices.
And since the creation of earth, not a single human government has managed to even come close to the Glory of God's Kingdom. Many people choose to follow Satan, and that is their choice, and they can come back to God any time they wish, so long as the offer up a Broken Spirit and a Contrite Heart, are truly remorseful for their sins and are willing to work towards the Greater good until the time that God's Kingdom reigns on things earth once again.
All of which can be learned reading the Scriptures, if learning about God is something that really interests you, I would strongly encourage you to read and study the Bible, especially in a group setting.
And keep in mind it is a matter of faith.
Sincerely and With Appreciation.

It is only God who is perfect. You need not be perfect though to be able to be a good person worthy to be welcomed in heaven. We are given by God freewill which we can later use to decide for ourselves knowing the basics of what is right from wrong. The freewill will also help us identify and interpret for ourselves the gray areas. It makes us different. God will not dictate upon us how we should behave. We choose how to do that.
God is a forgiving God. We may commit mistakes along the way but he will not condemn us and send us to hell right away. Mistakes and problems that we face as we live life purify us to be good people. From them we should learn. As long as we learn from the things we have done wrong and repent from our sins, I'm quite sure God will forgive us. Emphasis on the word "Sincere" though. He knows what is it that is within our hearts so beware, Satan welcomes new recruits too!

There are no verifiable answers for these. God punishes bad people -- this is told so that people do not do bad things. May be in exceptional cases even bad people may go to heaven wherever God forgets and forgives.

Hi stylewaves, There are no good and bad people, we are all just different. Everyone has both light and darkness in them. People have imagined a God made in their image, and with the same faults. We all came here by choice and we will return home when this life is over. we will continue to learn and to grow because no one stands still and life never ends. Blessings.

Some people don't want a "wishy-washy" God. It's easier to try to create a society with "one strike and your out" than create a system of forgiveness.
Of course you're only talking about a small portion of monotheists who believe their God is unforgiving. Most have some form of repentance, so party hearty and beg for mercy later!

I believe in God.
I think that everyone in this world will get what you deserve.I think that God punished the poor and that do not comply with the Ten Commandments are a law.
God helps the good guys. Therefore we must be careful with the actions and deeds.
Nobody is innocent but there are things from which we can protect ourselves.
Have a nice day!
