What is a family to you?

Family is that group of people that share the common emotion of love. When love is shared between people, all those elements that make up a family become clear. I consider my long time friendships part of my family. While there are traditional elements like blood, this does not ensure the love that is needed within a family. This love bonds individuals into a group that moves through life's journey together helping each other to acheive their individual goals.

A family should be the one that lets you to be who you are and not what they want you to be. There should be love and respect within family members. An open communication between family members is ideal but still respect for one's privacy is of paramount importance. And lastly, a family is still a family no matter how disfunctional it may be, for there is a purpose to everything.

Im Canadian but from an Italian family. To Italians, family is very important. We are there for one another, we stick together and we have parties all the time so we can get together. We find excuses to be together. Good for you to be surrounded by your family.

family to me is someone/something/ groups that are always there for you. but in these times family is hardly understand someone :l

Family is very important to me. :) It is God's gift to us. It's God's way of saying, "Hey you need people in your life who will love you for who you really are, so here, you have a family." :) I think that everyone should learn to value their family as sometimes we get careless and take them for granted. We should never do that to them.
