Hi sammy,
I am in the stock market and being Indian I limit myself to Indian stock market. It is too risky to indulge in online stock trading. Even in off line trading if you indulge in short term trading you invariably loose. You can earn in stock market if you invest in long term basis. In my case, the stock I have invested in has gone down considerably and the markets are sinking day by day. To justify my statement about long term investment, I gained substantial amount in a stock which was offered to me due to my professional involvement with the company and was unlisted due to litigation. After almost 20 years the stock gave me returns of almost 50 times my investment. No book will teach you how to earn on stock market. You have got to follow simple rule of trading buy low and sell high. The statement looks very simple but very difficult to follow at least in stock market but that is the only way to earn on stock market.

Yes you have to know whether you want to invest for a longer period of time or for a short period of time only. I agree with you... that is the essence of playing the stock market buy low and sell high but how do you know that the stock you buy is at a low price and what is high... you seldom see a stock which is low priced when it is on a bull run...
