Has anyone got married on the beach? What was the weather like on the day, and did you have a backup in case the weather turned bad?

B-I-L's partner's daughter recently got married on the beach, but until mum kicked up a big stink, there was no backup venue, just in case. The day was beautiful, the weather was wonderful and all went well, but it could so easily have gone the other way. I think anyone planning on getting married outside, should have a backup venue, just in case. Good luck for your daughter's wedding caramello, and I hope not only is the weather fine but that all goes well.

beach wedding - beach wedding
My fiance and i are getting married on the 22nd of September next year and to start with we looked at having a beach wedding as that was my dream to get married on the beach, But we then decided against that and we have now decided on a garden wedding, There is still a chance of bad weather and if that happens then thats life and we will just deal with it Although we are pretty confident the weather will be fine but we just dont know, We have a back up plan already for if it is bad weather! So yes i think if your getting married outdoors at all then you must have a back up plan just in case even if its just a sheltered area outdoors it is better then out in the rain!

You know I never thought of getting married in a beach. I think all this idea of the sand in my shoes or walking barefoot on the sand with the wedding dress on...

I know someone who got married on Sorrento beach last new years eve. It all sounds very romantic unless you can remember new years eve in Melbourne last year? It was 43 degrees and gale force winds blowing. Can you imagine how much fun it was to stand on the sand? NEVER again!

Oh good luck with your daughter. Its so hard to be the mother of the bride when the bride has her mind set on something strange. The bride in the wedding I was talking about is English, her family all flew over from England for the wedding and they were all like wilted lettuce leaves. Find a beach with a nice rotunda :)

Kriss, I have all these things going on in my head, but my daughter has her mind set on this so all I can do is hope it all turns out okay, nothing like a sand sandwich! lol Thank-you for your response.

The beach is at Airey's Inlet, not sure if you know it, but there is a Lighthouse not far away. Not that that will do much good as there is no undercover. She has also chosen a Cadillac convertable for her and I to go down in, so much for my hair, this will be some day! lol

no mine was in a church but when we renew our vows I would like it done on the beach and will do it in warm weather so if it rains is all good because I like walking in the rain....have some kind of awning for the guest incase they don;t share my love for being in the rain

Thank-you for your response, not sure if the bride (my daughter) realises that it just may rain!

The wedding is in February, which normally isn't too bad, but of late the seasons are changing quite a bit.

Beach wedding is great. Maybe it's better if you ask about the weather at the weather station to make sure everything will turn out fine. Having a plan B is a must also.

Well the wedding was all over now .... hope it was a good day for you yesterday .... but more important that the weather was kind to all of you caramello. Daughter of friends of mine got married on the beach a couple of years ago .... with no backup plan at all .... and happy couple knocked back offer of a free marquee to be put up. Weather was getting very hot, so at last minute bride's parents then organised for one plus some cold water for guests .... a group of us helped put it up .... which was just as well because it was a stinking hot day ..... and everyone would have been badly sunburnt. Groom refused to stand under the marquee or to have drink of water .... even just at the end for a bit of shade .... bride passed out from the heat followed by one of the bridesmaids .... then a groomsman (wuss). Mother of groom passed out too. Bride rested in shade till able to finish saying vows ..... out in sun again .... groom looking very faint ..... bride puked .... groom admitted to hospital that night with sun stroke. Wonderful wedding as my sister-in-law would say.

i'd say check for weather before fixing the day nowadays you can get upto 2 months future weather reports, its not 100% accurate yes but its better than nothing.
