So my Son said bad words to the Prime Minster

Kat reminded me today, when she responded to my post, on what had happened to me thirty odd years ago. One of the worse experiences of my life.
I was hugely pregnant, one baby a year old and another going on three years old when I made a bad decision.
I heard that the prime Minister was visiting our village to open a Banana Processing plant and he was coming in by helicopter. I wanted my eldest son to see a helicopter as we lived in an isolated on a farm. Now this beautiful angelic boy had been told all the baddest words by our workers on the farm. I mean really bad words and phrases.
So I pushed my pram which held the two boys and with the other one in my stomach walked the mile to the field where he would be landing. The crowd was large and school kids were practising their welcome song etc and all the officials pacing up and down. So I decided to go to the other end of the field where my children would not get crushed in the crowd. Another bad decision as the helicopter landed beside me on the field to avoid the crowds and out jumped the Prime Minister with only me to greet him
Boy was he startled but recovered immediately and asked where I came from etc and then he admired the children. Son #2 was all dimples and smiles but then the P.M. made a mistake byt holding out his hands to hold son#1 who was in my arms whilst remarking on how handsome my boys were.
#3 son then said what the *#@3** does this man think he's doing eh Mummy? He proceeded to cuss and then the P.M. threw back his head and laughed and laughed. He said that he had been cursed by many people but never by a boy who looked like a Botticelli angel. I was red with embarrassment. I wanted to die. I stammered an explanation but he was laughing too hard to hear me.
So the welcoming celebrations went on and I watched from afar and every now and then the P.M. would look for us and laugh.
You see how life is strange? #1 son is running in the next General Election to be a Member of Parliament of that P.M.'s party. The P.M. is now deceased.
So what is the most embarrassing thing your child ever did?

Oh that's funny...
Now when R worked at CBS Studios, Tom Bergeron, who hosted Hollywood Squares would come into his cafe every so often. And one Saturday he had Dearra there. Mr. Bergeron came over and wanted to talk to here, but she was so shy that she just hid.
Not so embarrassing, but there was here "you go away" phase. When she was about 3, that was her way of telling strangers that they were getting too close.
One boy in a Batman costume's mother came up and told her how pretty she was, and she told her to go away, and the boy was all in her face about talking to his mom that way. And then she did the same thing to a woman in a Thomas Kinkade store, and the woman was actually really offended!

OOH, sometimes I wish I could get away with that and just say to someone "You go away."

No it is not embarrassing at all no. I got over it years ago. I did write the full story of this and it was published many years ago. The PM is now deceased and yes, I met him several times after that first meeting

Quite funny but I got embroiled in the numbers you gave. Who was this #1, the eldest one?
....and I thought #1 (or #3) was still to be borne..
P.S. As for your question... I don't have any child yet

Yes, #1 son was the eldest; #2 son in pram; #3 son not yet born - was born a few weeks later. Just looked at your avi so you appear to be young if it is of you. The eyes thingie threw me at first but very cute

Now that is funny! One thing about these kinds of moments...as embarrassing as they are at the time...they make the best of memories! My girls all took their turns with saying things that were not so appropriate around the wrong people. Off hand I can't think of an incident and certainly not one that would compare to this story. How ironic that your son is now running in the next election!

Well, I don't publish my writing but I do have a collection of family stories and I have always told my girls when they did something outrageous or humorous that it was going in "The Book". Well, they never saw me working on "The Book" over the years because with 4 of them and being single and working...I just did not have time. I did however, keep journals, notes, etc. Now that they are grown, I've begun putting it all together. I usually stash it away because I don't want them to see it until it's done and then I will make a copy for all of them. Well, one night, I just was too tired to put everything away and it got left out on the kitchen table. One of my older daughter's came in really early while I was still sleeping...just waking up actually. My youngest daughter was probably about 14 at the time and getting ready for school. I heard her say to her sister, " Alys...you better watch what you do...mom really is making "The book".
That aside, you must be terribly proud of your son!! He sounds like an amazing person!

Yes, just get down to it. It will be a wonderful book of memories for them to have and to be past down the generations. Sorry for the delay but I was with my daughter for the weekend. Yes, I am so proud of him and his father would be proud of him too. I trued t speak to a group of people who were very poor and tried to tell them that because the country is b in such a bad way that my son could not immediately find work etc and houses. Then one person spoke for the group and said that my son gave them hope. I was humbled.

cynthiann,
It is indeed a joy reading your posts including this one here.
Isn't it such a funny coincidence for your eldest son to actually be involved with politics? I have to say that it must have been a real good scolding which enabled him to arrive to where he is right now.
I hope and wish your son every success in the forthcoming General Election.
Do you know that I am wondering now if I should actually let mine scold my country's minister as well during his community visits?

I don't think that he had reached 3 and a half years old as I had the three boys in 3 and a half years.

Fortunately nothing quite that bad. Son was the oldest, and had all of my attention, so not too many surprises were snuck in. At a huge downtown sidewalk sale he did get away, and then grabbed the nearest knees, thinking they were mine. I was behind him, and that little high school girl looked shocked. I got pay back at this year's All School's Day Parade, as a little one I did not know came up and grabbed my knees.
Daughter, on the other hand, was much more social. So leaning over my shoulder in a Wal Mart check out line, looking at a guy buying new tighty whities, she says: "Hi, Daddy". Then at the Y, saying she needed to go to the bathroom, being all of maybe 20 months, she streaks down the hall, pulling down her panties and saying "I can do it myself" as she headed for the restroom.
Last week a little one, maybe three, bumped into the back of me in a line, and I said something like "Hi, there" and her mom looked at her and said "Excuse you" and the darling blonde baby looks at me and says "Excuse you". Aren't Kids fun!!!!

On a very beautiful Easter Sunday my son who was about 1 1/2 years old, my parents and I went to their church for services. We sat in the back pew...where all the light switches were for the lights that lit the main part of the building.....my mother what holding him up over her shoulder....suddenly all the lights started going out....everyone in the whole church turned to see my son and my mother...he was busy turning off all the lights! I have never seen my mother move so fast. She grabbed up his things and off they took! She walked the three blocks to her house with him....LOL....I turned the lights back on and they continued services....everyone had a great laugh from that!

Oh your poor mother! At least you remained to turn on the lights. That is so funny. Young children always have this fascination for turning lights on and off don't they? Great memory Jill - thanks for sharing

we've had quite a few things but the two things that stand out a few weeks ago my 8yo told another mom that we were walking to the park cause we are poor and it's expensive. As we were to walk to the park while one of the girls was in her scouts meeting so they'd have something to do and we cannot go for walks by our house as we have no side walks or anywhere to go nearby.
Now along the lines of bodily fluids my oldest was 3-3.5yrs old and she constantly say she had to go potty when we were in a store. She did this to just get out of the cart as we'd go to the potty and she'd never go. So one time we were in Wal-Mart looking at a video display, she had complained before but I was annoyed of this tatic in every store. Suddenly I hear this trickle sound, I look down my DD1 had peed her pants, socks, shoes, and all over the floor. Thankfully I had some spare clothes and I wiped up the mess on the floor and we skedaddled out of there.

Oh that is so funny! I can imagine how you felt. Another response said her children actually used a potty in a shop and she was so embarrassed that she just fled!!

LOL.. that's hillarious! Ahh.. kids. LOL
Mine have never done anything quite as embarssing. Though I do remember a time we were at a sit down restaurant.. a bit on the pricey side but not extremely upscale. I think I was pregnant for the twins at the time, and my oldest son was around 4 years old. Employees and customers were wandering around us being ushered to seats etc. Then a heavy set woman walks past. My son blurts out as loudly as he can "Wow mom, that's a really BIG lady!". Yeah.. she heard him and peered over her shoulder. Hubby and I sank down in our seats. We finished our meal as quickly as possible and got the heck out of there! We still laugh about it to this day.

I think these are the kind of stories that should be read in a published collection! This is so funny.
I think we had visitors one day, and I don't know how the discussion started, but it eventually led to a question of how my 5-year old would know if daddy is already sleeping, or just sleep-pretending. He said daddy is not pretending if he is snoring!

I just love that story it is wonderful.
Wit regard to my stories I had about 24 put together to approach a publisher years ago - but I had not realised that I gave my copyright to the Newspaper. So, when I can, I am rewriting so as to make them 'mine'

My kids have never embarrassed me to that extent -- yet. One time, however, before I had kids and was still a teenager, my parents took me to Disney World for vacation.
We were walking in through the front gates, and I was going through a severe gothic phase at the time -- black from head to toe, black lipstick, hair, baggy pants with chains hanging from them ... you get the picture.
Anyway, as we were heading towards the line, I felt this little hand grab mine. I looked down, and there was a little boy who had come and decided to join himself with us. I asked him where his Mommy was, and just as I turned, I saw a frightened woman looking.
I led the boy back over to her, and the funny thing was, she and I looked like night and day. My parents still give me a hard time about going to a theme park and having him try to join me.

What a great memory to have. I can imagine both the fear and relief of his mother when you gave him back
