Do you think buying gold with real money in world of warcraft is acceptable?
I know the rules say you should not and your account can get banned,
but my question is: Is buying gold okay, is it damaging the game and why do people feel the need to buy gold in the first place?

do you not think some of the responsiblity lies with blizzard for not making gold accessible enough or making the players feel that they NEED the gold bad enough to pay real money.
You make good points also.

Maybe at first gold wasn't accessible enough as you say, but the last 2 years (as far as I know) that is not the case since Blizzard has made many significant improvements to the game. If you roll any new character in the game right now you can gain the necessary amount of gold easily.

i agree gold is not hard to come by now, but the prices of items have also gone up.
I.e when the Darkmoon cards where first released at the start of cata they were going for around 90-120k each on my server. Of course now they are down to around 10k each but the point is, when new items come out, to feel as though you are competitive and to feel as though u can be equally as good as anyone else, you feel you need gold to buy the hard to aquire items.
I am not saying i agree with either side to be honest, its a bit of both, but i understand that its not black or white there is a shade of grey in this subject :)

Hello friend.
Well first of all... this is a GAME so it is quite far fetched to talk about morality for something that is virtual, is it not ?
But anyway, while i agree with the previous responder that some people are too lazy as he called it i must also point out the people that may already have 1 2 or more full characters already and maybe they spent a lot of their virtual currancy on items for those chars, and want to develop faster with their new chars withouth taking it almost from scrap.

Maybe, even newer gamers want to develop their characters faster without going through the grind at all. I know a lot of people who don't want to start from scratch because they find the grinding part to be extremely boring and not worth the time.

I think it's fair. They are only banning it because they sell gold themselves so they don't want competition :P oh, did I say that out loud? It's obvious. Like in real life: time is money. The people with good gold farming strategies and alot of time to spend on that might aswell make it their "job" so they should get paied for it. And the ones that are willing to pay just for spending their time in this game in all other ways than making gold should have the right to do so if you ask me. It's an old an never dying economy.

well i think is correct because you earn that money in the game with your effort and you are in all the right to do whatever you want with it but probably that would ruin the game economy because they make a lot of money from people necessity as gold skills level ect but a few persons wont do anything to the world of warcraft economy so personally i think is morally correct...
good luck xD! i hope this helped (sorry about the low english level)

Buying or selling gold in world of warcraft is illegal and if someone gets caught doing it, chances are that person will be banned.
I wouldn't risk it and you can just get the gold by farming
