If given a chance to become immortal, will you accept it?

It sounds fascinating, but I probably will not accept it. It could mean living forever alone, and seeing the world change over and over until it becomes so different from the world you knew. You will see all your loved ones and friends die, over and over.
So would you like to live forever?

hmmm totally agree with ya, mate...
bt if u r forced to be immortal... i'd suggest politics is going to be the best suited profession for ya..
dont go for science cuz u gonna b stuck in ur lab 4ever ...
or perhaps plumbing.. u kno no matter how much modern the world gets there will always be a need for 1 in some work or the other...

You actually go into science and invent things and learn new scientific theories as time goes by. when you have finally invent them all and learn of the new technologies, you can also saved them when ever you decide to go back in time, change history and make your country better. i think destiny is what we make and what's more important than just making a history better for your country.

Nice thought. But the only problem that is "one can never go into past" as per scientific studies, you can only travel in future. And while you are busy working in a theory and some one proposes a better theory than your, then.
My suggested politics (and plumbing :p) because you get a chance to be interactive in those fields rather than just sitting and fidgeting with some chemical stuff.
I suppose there are many loop-holes in your theory...lolz.
I therefore pronounce it - REJECTED. :p

No. I wouldn't be happy seeing all my loved ones continually die. I would be trying to make them mortal. But it's irrelevqnt because I am already a memeber of a religion that gives people a chance at immortality and that's Christianity.

No because I have a hard time saying goodbye, and to ALWAYS have to say goodbye is tremendously depressing.

No way, although I really don't want to die. Being immortal means you will stay here on Earth forever, most of your friends will die, even your parents, but you,you will remain. You will experience different things, happiness and sadness, natural disasters, problems? I do not want that. I want to be normal.

I don't think I would like to live forever. I am already dealing with a lot of pain and I have seen too many loved ones die already also, including a 19 year old nephew. I don't want to become a burden on anyone and the older you get the more likely that is to happen. I think it would be too depressing and if there is pain I think I would not want to go on.

I think I would like to, but it depends on what my state of being. That would be a huge factor in my decision. It would have to be an active time of my life. I would want to make changes for the better as I lived.

It seems to be great, however, I may not accept it. Try to imagine I will grow old but I still stay alive. I must look ugly at that time. Besides, I don't want to see the one who I love die as time goes by. I will feel alone at last.

No way would I want to live forever. Your post didn't say immortal and healthy. That means you might be a quadrupalegic and live forever in that shape. Of course, if you live long enough, it might eventually be cured. It also means that when the end of the world DOES come, you will definitely go through the WHOLE thing - the horrors of mankind's work on earth and God's displeasure. Not sure I want to be around for that one either.

I do, because that's what I see Our Father do before me (or maybe I should put it 'Our Big Brother Jesus,' who became immortal by showing us how to).

To be with my flesh, I do not want it that way but we are all looking forward to be in heaven wherein if you are counted in, you will have an everlasting life. If to be an immortal one living in heaven that is a kind of living full of happiness that I will desire for and not the kind of living close to being a Zombie

Hi greenpeas!
I don't think I would want to live forever. Just thinking about it makes me feel tired of everything. I actually don't even want to live beyond 70. I'm not depressed or frustrated or sad or anything, but I just think there are just too many hassles in life. It's good to experience them but sometimes I feel like I'm on my limit.
And I don't like to be alone. I don't want to be left by my family and friends. It would just be so sad.

Yes, I would certainly enjoy immortality if, I could also maintain a good level or health, energy and vitality. I wouldn't like to live forever confined to a bed because I was too ill to get out and not very conscious of what was going on around me, or if I lost my mind. It's not likely to happen though, so I just work on getting used to the idea that I am not going to be around here forever. _Derek

Yes I would! it would give me the chance to redeem my mistakes...I know I can't undo what I did but I can make it better! and I would have the experience and wisdom of age to guide others...and I would have the opportunity to see the changes in the world and the universe as years goes by! yes I would accept it! just imagine the experience to see and live...through worlds being created...and others destroyed and finally been able to see the creation of a new universe. Would I like to live for ever oh yes I would.

You will exist consciously forever, either in everlasting bliss in heaven (which is what the word "immortality" means when used in the Bible) or in everlasting misery in hell (included in the meaning of "immortality" by sources outside the Bible, including some otherwise good ones - you can read J.C.Ryle or Brownlow North jr to see what I mean). Read the Bible (John's Gospel is a good place to start)! Joseph Alleine's "An Alarm to the Unconverted" is a useful adjunct.

It seems a wonderful idea at first, however when you think about it a little longer, the whole purpose of a life would get defeated if you were immortal. As it is, in this life, I sometimes wonder," Why am I born?" There are several people who come to earth and do so many things that makes their name immortal, like Edison made the Electric Buld, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone and so on. What have we done. Are we also on the earth for a purpose. What is the use of a pureposeless immortal life. I would rather prefer a pureposeful few years on this planet than a purposeless immortal life.
