I had one freelance job online - writing articles about Amsterdam for a travel website. When I started I never thought they would really pay me, but they did. I had to write 16 articles per month. Later on they changed the requirements and I had to write 20 articles. The pay was quite good (I thought) as they paid me $250 per month. This lasted for about two years. Then the website was sold and the writers were paid $35 per four article per month. Each additional article was paid $60. Then te website was sold again and payment became so low that I stopped writing for them. The research I did has not been wasted because I am now rewriting my articles and using them elsewhere. I also wrote step-by-step walking tours for another travel site. This was a big job as I hadto supply photos for each sight I mentioned. They paid $150 and I share in the royalties (not much). There are a few good sites out there like helium and what used to be associated content. You might try them. Also there is triond, but it is not quite the quality of the other two...though they do pay. Not sure if this was what you were looking for but hope it helps. Of course you can earn here at mylot too.
