If you want to learn about art photography, you should choose CCD lens.

Are there any compact digital cameras that use CCD lenses, or are they only found in DSLR's?

Todays, there are some manufacturer produce compact digicam that use CCD lense. ie. Fuji, Canon, Sony. They produce point and shoot digicam that easy to used, even for beginner photographer. I have sony cybershot dsc-w55 that use CCD lens.

CCDs are very accurate, where as CMOS are consuming low power. So you can prefer CCD.
