phone number on the internet

I have my number on my facebook profile, which is ok because my facebook is private and only people I accept into my friends list can see. so it's kind of useful because people who I haven't talked to in a long time find me on fb, see my number and give me a call. But putting your number up on an internet also has it's downfalls, because people could call you that you don't know or don't want calling you. so what's your take on putting your number online and why?
